Vote to Restore American Liberties - One American’s Rant About Our Loss of Freedom

I honestly believe that I am A true patriot. Perhaps I more reminiscent of Ethan Allen or Patrick Henry in wanting to fight back against tyranny by those who would like to take away our freedoms but I believe that the Constitution is being slowly diluted and altered by the current powers that be.

If my understanding is correct, the contstitution grants the states the right to make most of the decisions regarding their citizens and limits federal control. However, especially since the Bush Administration took control, not only the rights of the states have been eroded but also the rights of ordinary citizens.

I have a serious problem with the phone tapping of citizens among other things and believe that we are kept in fear to allow this type of tyranny to seem legitimate. Yes, 9/11 did occur and it was a terrible tragedy but how many times since then have we been told that the national security level has been raised. Is this a realty or simply a ploy to control the masses and make us agree to voluntarily surrender our rights in the name of supposed safety.

I do not believe that we are any safer today than we were in 2001. In fact, I believe the opposite. I think that Bush’s actions have us a target of radical terrorists the world over and that we have lost the support of many of our allies as a result of his actions. Not only have we invaded country’s that have not attacked us but we refuse to cooperate with other nations on environmental issues and threaten anyone who disagrees with us. I don’t know about you but I am definitely opposed to his actions and want to see a fresh new face in the White House in 2008. It would indeed be a tragedy if we were stuck with another rubber stamp of the present administration.

Let’s look at candidates like Ron Paul who would fight for states rights, reduce federalism, and find an intelligent manner in which to withdraw our troops from Iraq and work with other countries to restore our reputation as a world leader.
