Will Your Fear Make Muslims the Witches of the 21st Century or Create Another Fear Induced Holocaust?

As I have stated in previous writings I believe that it is inherently wrong to stereotype or judge any ethnic group for the crimes of a few. However, this has been a problem for American society from the 1600s when innocent men and women were hung as witches to the 1950s when fellow Japanese Americans were interned in internment camps because of their nationality until today when we judge Muslims as terrorists because of the actions of a few.
Sadly, nothing has changed in all these years. Americans still want a scapegoat to target, an ethnic or religious group to blame for their fear. However, if one will just look at the ordinary Muslim and the factual teachings of the Quran they will see that while culturally different these people, on the whole, are not violent. They bleed and hurt just like you and I when their loved ones are massacred in the name of Jihad, which does not even mean a “holy war” as portrayed by the terrorist. In Arabic it actually means a struggle against one’s baser instincts and has nothing to do with attacking the Western World.
From the http://www.islamfortoday.com/adi08.htm website one can learn the teachings of Muslim. It provides insights from Imam Tamman Adi of the Islamic Cultural Center of Eugene, Oregon and explains how the Quran looks at War.
From this site I learned that On May 11, 2003, Imam wrote that the concept of war was mentioned only six times in the Quran first being mentioned in a reference to God and his messenger declaring a spiritual war on the rich who make money by unproductive financial transactions. He then adds that the Quran then goes on to ask creditors to give debtors time to pay off their debt or to even forgive them their debt.
The second mention of war comes up when God praises Abel for not fighting back when Cain murdered him and decrees that killing one soul is like killing all humanity, with God condemning mass murder by calling it a war against law and order. Within this context the only exceptions made are in regards to killing in self defense and court ordered execution of a murderer when the victim’s family does not forgive.
The third reference is in regards to certain groups who will keep trying to kindle a fire of war, and God promising to put it out.
In the fourth reference God condemns nations that regularly violate international treaties and start wars. He requires other nations to prepare forces of deterrence against such war starters, but commands us to make peace with them whenever they are open to it.
In the fifth reference God warns Muslims that warmongers will commit mass murder falsely blaming the war on them in an attempt to start a war against Muslims. Fortunately, these same verses go on to tell Muslim believers that such plots are fragile, and are bound to collapse with the plotters into Hell.
Finally, God admonishes Muslims that when a war is over, the killing must stop and prisoners must be exchanged or set free.
No matter how I look at these verses or references I do not see a violent or cruel people since even the Bible mentions such thing as an eye for an eye and speaks of wars. Given that it is interesting how these verses give us a fresh perspective of current world events.
With that in mind Muslims who attempt to honor the Quran can only fight back in self defense against nations that attack them and even then they have to stick to very strict rules of self defense. The Quran even admonishes Muslim that they may only kill those that they confront in battle to protect themselves and that mass murder because of religion is worse than plain killing. So while terrorists spout the Quran as their defense for their actions true Muslims prefer the use of international non-lethal pressure to protect themselves. Inman also clarifies another misconception and that is that Muslims do not worship another God than the one true God. Allah is just the Arabic word for God and like the Jewish people they take their beliefs back to their father Abraham. Interestingly, Jihad is intended to call for national freedom of religion and unbeknownst to most Americans is that Islam’s main proclamation is that there should be “No compulsion in religion” (Quran 2:255).
In other words, deviations from the Islamic norm are cultural or political biases not based on Islam. For information on Islam that will calm your fears of a religion that is unfamiliar to you see either the above web site or: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3059365.stm
My advice to Americans is to become educated on the culture that frightens you to prevent a modern day holocaust against a peace loving people.

My advice is to learn about ‘abrogation’ as sura 2 is abrograted by later suras.

Dear John
It would help other readers if you would take the time to explain what the terms you used mean. I am sure that they are unfamilar to many.
Thank for visiting my site and have a wonderful day. Jackie

I find alot of what you said to be total trash but the best one is were you say
“My advice to Americans is to become educated on the culture that frightens you to prevent a modern day holocaust against a peace loving people”
I think I speak for most Americans when I say we are not frightened of you. You however are obviously frightened of us or you would not have said what you did.
In your post you target Americans….what about all the other countries that are fighting? What about Britain you forgot them didnt you…and all the other countries that are against radical muslim. You post a clearly one sided and bias view and lump all Americans into one group while saying you dont want Americans to do that to you muslims. You are doing exactly what you are saying we should not do.
Its not actually a few as you said either is it. If it were just a few radical muslims it wouldnt even be a problem would it….a few defined is 3 but even if we stretched that to 30 it would be way off and 300 would be way off even 3000 would be way off wouldnt it. Actually how many muslins would you say are radical muslims? For one its hard to say cause they hide dont they but you could surely say its infact more than a few, alot more. What else is that they lie about if they are or not along with hiding so really for all I know you are infact a radical and just telling us all a lie….how do we know? If non-radical muslim doesnt want to be grouped with the radicals why dont you also fight the radicals? Hmmmm what did you do to stop the radicals? Could be that the answer to stopping the holocost is for non-radical muslim’s to actually stop talking and do something to fight the radicals instead of saying poor me. But I guess muslims have 2 types of people - those that are cowards but willing to die and those that are just cowards.
Finally here is my list of what makes me unsubcribe from a blog.
1. Political statement - If I want that Ill subscribe to that other wise not
2. Anti-American posting
3. To much mac stuff - again I can subcribe to mac stuff if I want fruit
I think Im about done with Lockergnome since we have achieved both 1 and 2, Im not waiting for 3

Dear Igus
I am sorry that you were so offended. I would like you to know that I am not a Muslim and I am a loyal American. However, I do know many Muslims who are peace loving and are not to be feared. It is unfortunale that many Americans lump all Muslims together and that is my point.
It is no different than other countries thinking that we all belong to the Ku kluk Klan or the Neo-Nazi party which is ridiculous. It is the same as insinuating that Muslims are all evil. That is just not the case.
I would only ask that all of us practice a little more tolerance of each other. After all we are all Americans and that is what freedom is all about. Have a good day. Jackie

I think people should read Brigitte Gabriel’s book, “Because They Hate” and become more educated about the culture as a whole before labeling a faith that so few understand as being peaceful or moderate or labeling those who disagree as intolerant. Maybe then people will realize we can’t compare events of the past with today’s. Maybe then we as a Nation will understand that what we perceive as ‘radical or extreme’ is conceived as mainstream to the Islamic mind.
Even the Nazis didn’t strap bombs to their own children. We didn’t heed the early warning signs of the Holocaust, that’s why it happened. We must learn from history and our mistakes. If we don’t they are doomed to be repeated at a much larger scale, but it won’t be for lack of warning signs it will be for lack of refusing to see. The warning signs today are much more clearly and openly spoken and the so called ‘radical’ community is not a small one.
Prejudice is not the issue here for their are peace loving people of all cultures and from all nations, however protecting our Nation as a whole against a actively known threat is the issue.
