Can the Palm Pre compete with Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android OS?

Lately I have been reading numerous articles on how everyone is excited about the pending release of the new Palm Pre smart phone. There is a buzz around this phone that I have not seen since the release of the Apple iPhone and when the Google Android OS debuted on the HTC G1. The iPhone lived up to the hype in the eyes of most people and the jury is still out on the Android OS, (though it does show great promise is the OS continues to mature). The one thing both of these phones have going for them is the innovative reputation of the companies behind them. Both companies are known to be cutting edge and are constantly working on enhancements and fixes to their software. I think that is what really make these phones ideal smart phone choices. Blackberry has built their reputation on delivering high quality products. Blackberry is not known for updating their software as often as the aforementioned companies. The release of the Palm Pre does not excite me mainly because of the company behind it…Palm. Are you excited about the release of the Palm Pre? And if so why?
