Iran report a ‘warning signal’ - You’re f’n kidding me, right?
- 65
- Add a Comment
The National Intelligence Estimate — a gathering of the 15 leading intelligence organizations — revised its opinion that Iran had or was attempting to create nuclear weapons and now states that if Iran were to start its nuclear weapons program — which was stopped in 2003 because of international pressure — it wouldn’t have a viable weapon until 2015. In light of this, Mr. Bush said that he viewed this as a “warning signal” because Iran had a nuclear weapons program, and that “nothing’s changed” in his administration’s eyes.
“To me, the NIE (National Intelligence Estimate) provides an opportunity for us to rally the international community — to continue to rally the community — to pressure the Iranian regime to suspend its program,” Mr. Bush said. “What’s to say they couldn’t start another covert nuclear weapons program?”
Mr. Bush, the material fallacy in your statement is astonishing. How you even manage to wipe your ass in the morning amazes me.
First, Mr. Bush, your conclusion that Iran’s attempt to create a nuclear reactor will lead to a nuclear weapons program is severely flawed. Just because a country is intent on producing nuclear-grade material for a reactor does not automatically mean that it is going to further develop its supply of plutonium in order to create a nuclear weapon. “What’s to say they couldn’t start another covert nuclear weapons program?” Mr. Bush, how about the estimation that Iran stopped its program in 2003 under international pressure?
But logic isn’t your strong point, is it, Mr. Bush? After all, you’re a leader — a decider — and you’ve already made your decision, and you’re determined to get your way, even if it means you’re the one who has to provoke another war. If you had any brain power left in that big-oil redneck brain of yours, Mr. Bush, you would’ve seen the fallacy of your logic — you would see that you, sir, are creating the undue tensions between Iran and the United States.
If you were any kind of diplomat, you would open some kind of dialog with Iran. Hell, even a little memo asking “can we talk after class” would be more diplomatic than your constant rhetoric and threats of a possible “first strike” against a country that has not attacked us.
That would be par for the course with you, though, Mr. Bush. After all, you lied to us — the American people — and the world about the reasons for invading Iraq. We were led, like sheep, into believing Iraq had some connections with Al Qaeda, then into believing that Iraq had in its possession weapons of mass destruction. And, after being proven wrong on both accounts you stood at a fund raising dinner, behind a podium, and joked about not being able to find anything linking Iraq to Al Qaeda or WMDs. You laughed off your own incompetence and continued to blindly push forward.
And now you’ve begun your warmongering rhetoric again. Only this time, sir, you were refuted before you could unleash a catastrophic first strike. You were refuted before you could potentially displace or kill millions of innocent civilians, again. You were denied by the very same intelligence community you blamed for giving you bad information. You were denied by the same intelligence community that — outside of the CIA — called you, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, and Dick Cheney insane.
Yet despite all of this, a preemptive first strike — even a nuclear first strike — is still on the “diplomatic” table. Despite all of the evidence contrary to your administration’s assertions, you continue to wage a war of words — that you threaten will turn into a hot war — unless your demands are met.
You question Ahmadinejad for not complying with U.N. resolutions; yet complying with those resolutions would mean that Iran — which you now surround on both of her borders — would be unable to protect herself from an American-led invasion.
Iran, thanks to your political posturing, has no incentive to disarm. And it, in fact, has a greater sense of urgency to acquire a nuclear weapon, just to get you to back off of your political bullying. But you can’t see that, can you, Mr. Bush?
You sit there and wonder why the Muslim world loathes America. Despite all of the horrors and atrocities you have committed in the names of liberty, peace, freedom, and security, you still have the gall to suggest that the Muslim world — and, indeed, the world as a whole — should respect us because we’re attempting to spread democracy through violent means? My question to you, Mr. Bush, is why shouldn’t the world think of us as nothing but well-armed thugs?
The only “warning signal” that the NIE’s report sent to us, Mr. Bush, is that you, sir, are nothing more than a “good ol’ boy” redneck thug.

It’s really sad when a person becomes so entrenched in his preconceived viewpoint that he is no longer able to see the truth… no longer able to see reality for what it is, but twists facts to fit everything into that warped view.
And I’m not talking about the president. So the program stopped in 2003. Whose administration was in charge back then? Wasn’t it Bush? What events around that time probably figured into the decision to stop the program? Maybe their next-door neighbors being invaded for similar reasons? And as far as I can remember, we didn’t attack Iran back then, so there must have been some non-military efforts on our part.
Is it a bad thing to keep a military option in the picture? That doesn’t mean that the administration WANTS it… it is a LAST resort. But without that potential, all other efforts (including diplomacy and sactions) lose a lot of teeth.
Don’t forget that the only difference between nuclear material for a power plant or a weapon is the number of passes through the enrichment process. If you have an operable nuclear reactor, time and desire are the only things standing between you and a nuclear weapon.
And I’m sorry, but blaming Iran’s animosity toward the US on the Bush administration is nonsense. Iran has hated the US for DECADES.

According to the late Col. L Fletcher Prouty, war makes up 20% of the world economy. The attempts by Bush corp looks to me to be a try to increase this percentage. As Prouty always stated, these wars are never meant to be won, only sustained. They are meant to use up weapons and materiel to keep the weapons manufacturers making enormous profits, give polititians platforms to stand on and are Malthusian attempts to cull whole populations of people the West believes are worthless. The so called ‘military industrial complex’ is nothing more than a government welfare project. The money needed to pay for these illegal and immoral wars is borrowed from the international banks at interest and not only is this creating horrendous debt to America, this influx of cash into the economy waters down the dollar making it worth less and less as these wars go on. There can only be one result…. economic collapse.
America has become the snake that eats it’s own tail. Get the troops out of the Middle East. Stop doing the bidding of Israel. Let them fight their own damned wars. If we don’t do this, we face certain destruction, not at the hand of some un seen enemy we have an inordinate fear of, but by our own hand. Why was the lesson of Vietnam never learned?
SUPPORT THE TROOPS!…GET THE TROOPS HOME.

You know, I used to love Lockergnome, but this mailing went over the edge. You are actually defending a person (Ahmadinejad) who publically stated that his goal is to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth? Regardless of whether or not Iran currently has ambitions to build a nuclear bomb (which I believe they do), the world has the duty to prevent this madman from ever getting close to obtaining one.
Believing this anti-Bush crap blinds you to one simple fact. Radical Islamic Extremists WANT YOU DEAD. Don’t think that they are all in Afghanastan like the Libs want you to believe. They are in EVERY COUNTRY in the world. You people just won’t get it unless a nuke goes off in a US city. Of course, you’ll blame that on the Bush Administration too….

As a person who grew up in and around Embassies around the world it has always amazed me how Americans can believe that they know why something has happened by reading/watching the news. There is a reason the President’s morning news brief is CLASSIFIED and that only a handful of people get to read it. There are Three reasons governments get press 1) They took an overt action. 2) its a P.R. stunt. 3) some one screwed up.
One picks a President who has the fortitude to ignore an ignorant public and do what he believes is in the best interest of the country, with the info he has at the time.

Are you some kind of shill for the Iranians? What first strike are you talking about? Are you just too young to remember Iran’s first strike when the they attacked our embassy in Tehran and held scores of people captive for 444 days, meanwhile playing our President (Carter), like a toy fiddle. Where you even alive then?
Ayatollah Khomeini led the iranian people under the slogan “America can’t do a damn thing.” Khomeini also emphasised international revolutionary solidarity, expressing support for the PLO, the IRA, and Cuba.
The Iranians are controlled by radical Muslim fanatics who want to kill us and all Western culture. Good call, LordKat - let’s just “talk after class” and everything will be fine, just fine.
Get some broader perspective, son. These maniacs would kill thousands or millions of us at the drop of a hat if they thought they could get away with it. We have to keep the upper hand.

I find it absolutely UNBELIEVABLE that there still exists in this country anybody at all who believes that invading other countries who have done no harm to us is something that is somehow going to turn out well for us. Throughout history, empire building countries have always gone down in economic flames. The Internet is there for us to use. Instead of listening to a man who is still thinks that the ongoing slaughter of innocents people, not only in another country but of our own citizenry, why not take a look around at what is actually happening? Can it really be true that there are people that still walk the earth who think that printing money and borrowing to the extent of 1.5 TRILLION dollars in order to continue foreign military operations is not going to completely bankrupt this country just as this type of empire-building has ever single other time in history? Can it possibly be that there are still people walking around who still think that George Bush is not completely insane? First he says a foreign country might have weapons, so we have to invade and spend from now on killing them. Of course, I haven’t heard Bin Laden’s NAME even mentioned in some five years. Obviously this invasion had nothing to do with him. NOW he looks around and says: “Oooh, I think I see ANOTHER country that might some day have the capability to attack us. Move the battleships into position and surround them.” Then when his intelligence community UNANIMOUSLY says that they have no capability whatsoever of POSSIBLY attacking us, his conclusion is that we should attack them. And there still exists people outside the Oval Office who are capable in their own minds of defending these positions? UNBELIEVABLE!

The US has been looking to take over all oil producing Middle Eastern countries for a long time. This is just the beginning of an Iranian war, and if it isn’t Nuclear Armaments they will find some other reason. Anyway I predict they will hit Iran before Bushie’s term is out. Pity that a potentially brilliant free society like the US is so easily misled into believing that they have freedom of choice, and that there is a political freedom of choice in their Country. If they would just learn to investigate for themselves and think for themselves instead of believing the largest Media Propaganda machine ever conceived by man, but then I think their President serves to point out their average intellect, he was after all elected by the masses,… twice. The blind leading the blind, or in this case the dumb.

Unfortunately, I never took the time to read this post. It may have had some interesting commentary. I gave up after I read the headline. I figured if I don’t like something - I should state that fact - so I figured I would drop a comment.
I find it disappointing that more and more people feel the need to include words like “f’n” in a headline just to make it seem important or more valuable. There probably is a reason the entire work is not spelled out - it is inappropriate. I will be the first to admit I have used some inappropriate language at times, but never in anything written, and especially not the word that identifies. This type of language implies so much hate and anger - yet many have just grown accustomed to using it like any adjective. I find it hard to put any credibility in any writing that needs to use those types of words to gain attention. I will stay away from the political area of lockergnome and I will remove my name from the mailing list for Pirillo’s Picks. I wish we could regain a bit of our perspective on right and decent!

There are far too many political sociopaths in America now who don’t see anything wrong in threatening another country, even when it hasn’t actually done anything to them. If all it took was to say something negative about the USA than America would be inva… I mean liberating just about every country in the world. And no, Mark, he wasn’t defending The Iranian president. You seem not to be able to tell the difference between pointing out something wrong and siding with them. This was the same nonsense as went on with Iraq as well and that too was based on incorrect info. Luckily the truth came out first before yet another blunder by Bush could be done.
Are you of the idiotic opinion “America. Love it or leave it.” or even “My America, right or wrong”? You’re the type that is wrong with America now and is driving it to destruction. I’ve have found, from many conversations, that the ones who hate America, and Americans in general, are Americans on the right-wing. It is truly frightening at the low opinion they have of their own fellow citizens.

Mark. Here is one historical fact you seem to have forgotten. In the history of nuclear weapons ONLY one nation has EVER used them ojn civilians or even at all. Can you guess which one?
EVERY OTHER nation that has them has NEVER used them. That includes the so-called evil empire of the USSR, Pakistan (Run by a military dictator. BTW.), India (Which has many disputes with Pakistan that have led to fighting). You are nothing more than a fearmonger and an Islamophobe and the real threat here.

I think it is funny that the captcha for me was chill…
Anyway we have to remember that Iran is an Islamic totalitarian country and the power they have comes from exaggerating and outright lies - just like in our country - but it is more desperate in Iran. They are having serious problems keeping it together there. I really think that behind closed doors there is a lot more going on. There are like 4 or five carriers near Iran that are loaded to the top with all manner of weapons. look at the whole picture Iran stopped all the covert help they were giving the bad guys in Iraq. They have really pulled back the reins on the Hibz Allah in the Gaza strip - pretty much letting them hang in the breeze even Syria is talking. I think that this “intelligence report” is a little thank you/Christmas gift to the Mullahs.

I have to agree, anyone who actually believes that Ahmadinejad actually is the victim in this situation has been sucking at the liberal trough for WAY too long.
Radical Islam doesn’t give a rats arse about the US in so far as they want us DEAD. As they want all non-sharia led individuals dead. They want one government, under sharia law leading the world, and they are ready to destroy anyone and everyone in their path to get to that point.
If I were the heads of Europe, I would be sweating in my shorts day in and day out. More and more muslims have flooded into their countries (France is in serious trouble) and one day these guys are just going to ignite a fight that is going to bring a world (litteraly) of hurt to a lot of people.
International pressure - what a freaking crock of crap! Do you actually believe that having the UN say ‘OK, now you can’t enrich plutonium for weapons” that they are actually going to bow down before them and say “yes sir master - anything you say master”‘
If you believe that, I have some ocean front property to sell you in Nebraska.
I’m sorry to be rude, but sometimes I can’t believe the craziness that I read.
Go spend sometime in these countries and find out exactly how they treat people (even those who agree with them).
Look at any of the videos of how they beheaded people they had captured. This is not the behaviour of a civilized people - they are base savages with NO REGARD FOR LIFE. They will do whatever they want to achieve their ends and that includes killing you and yours.

Whatever is true, there is one fact that remains, and is not disputed. The Ayatollahs of Iran will not accept the existence of Israel. It appears now that most of the concerned parties want to settle with each other and establish peace, but Iran has clearly stated that no settlement is possible. If this worldwide nightmare continues, the blame now is solely on the Ayatollahs and the political machine that they control, and the terrorists groups that they control. Atomic weapons are just another piece of the nightmare.

Since this is just a commentary, I will take it just as it is, your opinion. Right or wrong you have a right to it. You can thank the military AND leaders like Bush. Of course you won’t because that is not in your character. I get the idea that you don’t understand very much about nuclear power plants. That’s understandable, because not many folks do. One fact was made clear and you are unable to argue, and that is IRAN hates us. That’s a fact. If you are ok with that, it just shows what kind of person you are. Do I have an opinion? Yes, and I earned it in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Law Enforcement, and State Dept (at embassies). I also built a nuclear power plant in Maryland. I am not an expert, but you my friend are not a commentator of any substance. God Bless our Leaders, Military and folks that are not afraid to stand up for what is right.

Well guys you don’t understand the Muslim mentality at all
Any non Muslim is an infidel and Muslims are not obliged to honor any agreement, Whether writen or spoken with Infidels.
The Koran is not like the bible. it is a random collection of verses.
About 200 years after Mohammed died the academics put it into the longest chapters first & the shorter chapters later.
The Koran has no chronological sequence.
The nature & tone of the Koran is pure intimidation. High pressure selling of fear & greed.
Check out www.islamundressed.com
This is a serious historical site with referencies.
It is my considered opinion that Mohammed created the most successful murderous cult in history.
Muslims have a hive mentality and are massing for the world wide Jihad of ridding the world of infidels so that they can have an Islam only state.
There is no compromise with Islam
It is worse than you can possibly immagine..

LordKaT, you deprive yourself of validity with the condescention of calling our Commander In Chief, President Bush, by the common name, Mr. Bush. Subtle, but irritating. He is a sitting President of the United States of America. He is not addressed as “Mister,” but as Mister President. I am sure that former President Clinton is President Clinton, Former President Clinton, or something more respectful to you. Perhaps I should try to read more of your op-eds to discern this as fact, so I present it only as a hunch at this point.
No WMD’s in Iraq: The Kurds will disagree. It’s a large country. There is a lot of sand. There are plenty of places to hide caches of chemical, biological, or nuclear material that we haven’t even thought of exploring. So we can’t find any now? Big Whoop? Hussein has used WMD’s on previous occasion in chemical form. President Bush was not alone in the belief that Iraq possessed, desired to possess, or was actively seeking the means of advancing a WMD programme. This belief was held by MANY politicians and astute Intelligence and Congressional committees. Was it a failure of Intelligence, or was it a failure of our Commander In Chief?
My beef is with Congress. Instead of declaration of war, which only Congress can do, they create a probable deniability by granting Presidential Powers to enact Proposed Military Action. That way, if any aspect of the Iraq “experience” becomes unpopular, they can finger point, squabble, blame, and slide out of their former positions and play the blame game. Numerous “experiences” now have taught us that Congress escapes responsibility in this manner.
It’s about the oil: If it were, would we be paying $90+ per barrel, or would we be reaping the spoils of “The Iraq Experience” and selling ourselves oil back at $30 per barrel to help offset the costs of the, experience?
Former President Clinton dismantled our Intelligence Infrastructure. How can you expect pristine information from a cracked crystal ball? How many Farsi field operatives were implanted in Arabic countries by the end of President Clinton’s administration? I will make it simple: a)Too many? b)Too few? … How many Farsi speaking NSA listening posts were dismantled through President Clinton’s budgetary constraints and executive orders? These types of questions arise ad nauseum.
When you can say “Been there, done that,” without the condescention of purposefully misaddressing a sitting President as Mr. Bush … which is what? … things we learn in 3rd grade for $100, Alex, don’t pretend to be an authoritative source of information, Mr./Mrs./Ms. LordKaT.
Signed,
Dr. Dan

I my doubts.
Perhaps some one may remember two years ago, the IC , our heros — the same people who claimed to have detailed information about Iraq’s former mass murderer’s weapons of mass destruction, who missed the information on al-Qaeda, and that had two spy networks inside Iran in the past twenty years — told us it was certain that Iran was “determined to develop nuclear weapons , and the most likely targets were Israel and the USA? This was their considered opinion upto five months ago. What has changed?
You’re F’n kidding me , right?
And once Iran masters centrifuge enrichment, thanks to it’s everhelpful Chinese allies, it is a simple step to go from five-percent enriched to 95-percent enriched, the only difference being the time required to produce the amount of 95-percent-enriched uranium needed to amass low-enriched uranium— which surprisingly is perfectly legal within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, but by then it will have a stockpile sufficient to produce enough weapons-grade uranium for upto a half a dozen warheads. Iran will then resume it’s covert weapons development. You do not believe this is dangerous and foolish?
You’re F’n kidding me , right?
Before all this was made public , our saber rattling, as the left whines about, was a formidable tool used against Iran. A tough love diplomacy if you will. However, thanks to the release of this NIE, that tool is gone. One Tehran-based analyst told The New York Times, “a military strike by the U.S. might be off the table.” And speculation by Robert Kagan, “Fear of American military action was always the primary reason Europeans pressured Tehran. Fear of an imminent Iranian bomb was secondary. Bringing Europeans together in support of serious sanctions was difficult before the NIE. Now it is impossible.” Would the left leaning Bush Derangement Syndrome crowd care about the possible cosequences of their actions?
You’re F’n kidding me , right?
But as a final note I would ask you to take a closer look at the three top signers of this report. All three are rapid anti-Bush Bashers. This however wouldn’t have any bearing on their thoughts would it?
You’re F’n kidding me , right?

What surprise me what has go loss in all these arguments the United States position was to monitor their enrichment program by some reliable agency whether our government or the U.N. The reason being two fold too see that the enrichment of the uranium-238 with uranium-235 is only enrich to that point needed to run a power plant which is some where around 4 to 6%. To make a uranium bomb it has to have uranium-235 at least 80 % and 90 % would be better. The other thing they monitor by sampling the runs for the impurities in your uranium. The reason is if you make a bomb and explode it and because of the impurities in the bomb it will have a unique fingerprint of isotopes, thereby you would be able to say who the source of the bomb was, whether nuclear or dirty. Now the normal byproduct of running a uranium power plant is to have plutonium made by the neutron capture by uranium 238. So you have a problem as too big of a build up of plutonium isotopes would in time make a power plant into a bomb that would explode. That means the operators must reprocess their fuel rod periodically for safety sake. Now that you have plutonium the problem is plutonium comes in several isotopes the ratios depends on how long the plutonium was cooked in the nuclear reactor. Mostly for this illustration it is the two lighter isotopes of plutonium of interest. The ratios is of such trying to make a bomb out of them is near impossible which means you have to do a separation of these isotopes to get the right one to make a stable and dependable bomb. This requires a high degree know-how and proper equipment. All lend it self to easy monitoring if given access to their programs. So the bottom line no access they could be doing anything. If given free access to monitor Iran’s nuclear all this political crap would disappear. It is the age old fight over counties sovereignty and jerking one another chain.

This piece not only speaks a large hunk of the truth in common “f’n” language, but has created a lot of buzz, which is good for Lockergnome and stimulating for posters and lurkers all.
I also note much of what someone said about the Koran could be said about the “holey” Bible . I think both documents are worthy of respect and consideration. My personal opinion is neither is the “exact and literal word of God”–for one thing there are many interpretations of a given passage in either document. I do not intend to insult anyone who disagrees with that, just my personal opinion.
Anyhow, after all the above, my little bit will seem anticlimactic, but here goes:

Thank- you to all (the majority) of the intelligent responses to LordKaT’s irresponsible rant. I felt such shame and discomfort reading Lord’s rant, and wondered at the type of insanity that might be associated with my favorite tech site. Now, after reading the more sane and calm responses, with intelligent and respectful posts, I know Lockergnome site is still ruled by saner heads. We may not agree on political and religious topics, but respect for those persons elected lawfully legally by our peers is one of the things that keeps our country the great and beautiful place it is. Referring to our lawfully elected President as “Mr. Bush” is a poor way to express your disagreement with policy. It shows disrespect of the office of President of the United States, and that in turn shows lack of respect for your fellow man, whoever it may be. Former President Clinton is not to be respected as a man, that is for sure. However, he is still correctly addressed as former President Clinton, not Clinton.

Why did the Iranians invade our emabassy? We got rid of a democratically elected president of Iran and installed the Shaw who was a despot so that we could keep control of the Iranian oil. This led to the overthrough of the Shaw and gave control to the Islamists. We started it.

This is simply wrong-headed. A political statement on a tech blog? Worse yet, the posting is ill-informed and quite confrontational. Who really knows why the government decided to release such a report and why the timing? None of us, I am certain.
Please, please don’t stray into this nonsense simply to gain advert hits. This is disgusting. A bunch of nonsense statements followed by even more nonsense. All by people who simply can’t actually know anything but their own opinion. Give me a break!

Bush & Cheney should be tried for crimes against America & The Constitution. But, that will never happen. Does the US have legitimate enemies? Sure, but Bush & friends are a million times more dangerous to our Democracy & Freedom than the terrorists could ever hope to be. A little bit of fear & most Americans are ready to throw away the Constitution with both hands & give Bush dictatorial powers.
Even if you don’t agree with me on these points, how can anyone ignore the fact that Bush is Completely, Utterly, Criminally Incompetent? Every day he’s in power this country suffers in every way. One small example: He’s bankrupting us, spending money like a teenager with millions of stolen credit cards. Does anyone want to pay these mounting bills with increased taxes, of course not. We just borrow the money from China, they are going to OWN US.
What is this War (& the last one & the next one) basically about? Money & Power, that’s what it’s always been about and will always be about. Just Follow the Money, companies that are supposed to be helping Iraq recover from the destruction (we perpetrated on them), are instead raping & pillaging Iraq. The Media should be headlining these injustices, oh, I Forgot, the Media IS Big Business! America is becoming a Fascist Nation. With the Republicans we’re on the Fast Track, with the Democrats a little slower perhaps, but Money & Power buys whatever you want (diplomas from Harvard & Yale for example).

Shame on you Lockergnome, you might be good at Tech. and should have stick to it, now, after writing all these ridiculous comments, you lost most of us. You and the ones that support your ideas, are probably very busy with technology, reason why are so unaware of what all these Muslim issues really mean.
As Tony Trenton very well suggested in his post on 12/07, get some more info on what the Muslim “cult” really wants, I’m sure that if you are not one of them (you do look a bit Iranian), after you get more knowledgeable on that topic, you’ll come back to apologize to your readers.

@LordKaT and others of the same sentiment, your president by whatever name you want to refer to him is an idiot, running a country full of idiots with a might is right philosophy that believes everything CNN says as gospel. You DO NOT rule the world and you and your bigass loudmouth overbearing might is right attitude are not liked anywhere in the world. You are very short sighted to think you nationalistic opinions has any effect on the rest of the world, or that kicking the sh*t out of every tiny country you come across improves this. The World Wide Web is internationally visible BTW.

Lockergnome used to be a great source of information regarding computers and technology, but lately it has slipped more and more into a political forum. It’s time for Lockergnome’s founder, Mr. Pirillo, to either reign in the political commentary, or change the name and or purpose of this institution to something more befitting of what it has become.
As a concerned reader, I only hope that Lockergnome gets back to what it once was, a non-political forum on computers and technology.

1. Bad idea Chris. You just lost a long, long time subscriber (almost from day one).
2. Can anyone seriously misinterpret president Ahmadinejad when he openly states his whishes and intentions? The whole discussion is pointless as there’s nothing left to interpretation.
How should the world react to the threat? THATcan and should be talked about; not IF we should react.
PLEASE!

To those who were so strongly offended by this post:
Our forefathers charged us with fighting tyranny within our own country as well as abroad. THIS MEANS QUESTIONING OUR LEADERS WHEN THEY GO ASTRAY. To not do so is truly anti-American.
The facts in this post (not the opinions) are pretty much indisputable, documented and AS CLOSE TO THE TRUTH AS WE CAN GET. Even Fox News backs this post up.
So why are so many people disagreeing with it?
Why are they calling the comments “Anti American”????
(FYI - Hitler called anyone that disagreed with him Anti-German.)
Just because you don’t like the content of this post doesn’t make it wrong and if you want a Facist regime, you’ll have one if you don’t wake up and start looking around.
AND, IF YOU WERE REALLY OFFENDED BY THIS POST, REMEMBER THAT RUPERT MURDOCK IS GIVING HUGE SUMS OF MONEY TO HILLARY’S CAMPAIGN.

I could not refrain commenting LB’s post (see above). He closes saying :
“God Bless our Leaders, Military and folks that are not afraid to stand up for what is right”
First of all, associating God with this kind of fascist statement is just plain blasphemy!
LB, what’s the difference between what you said and the islamist fanatics saying
“The non-islamic world is depraved, unbelieving, impure and God wants us to eradicate all infidels”
There is no difference because both statements, the former fascist, the latter islamist, come from uneducated extremists.
Lastly, if YOU really did built a nuclear power plant in Maryland, I have to remember to avoid that part of the country…

Amazing how many of these readers/writers forget that the war in Iraq was partially based on am NIE report claiming that Iraq had WMD. Can their reports be trusted or not. Just remember, you can’t have it both ways.
Incidentally, its not the “SHAW of Iran”, it was the “Shah of Iran”.
And Chris we don’t need your very personal attacks on our President! Mizmander is very, very correct. I have yet to hear ANYONE from the Bush administration tear down Either President s’ Clinton or Carter for their apparent misdeeds.

I couldn’t agree with the very simple and to the point statement by “Al”. America is largely responsible for the middle east issues. This country and Mr. Bush (and I use “Mr.” very loosley) And I don’t care about so called sitting president and respect. Where is the respect for your citizens? We are supposed to be the most “rich and powerful” country in the world and “leaders” of the free world (and all the other crap that is said about us that is untrue), yet we march into Iraq in two weeks and find nothing. We’ve had spies in the middle east for atleast 25 years (I think someone eluded to this in another post) yet where is the hard proof that Iraq had direct involvement in 9-11? We claim that they “harbored terrorist” so it becomes our right to invade a country? But wait, lets make sure we secure the oil fields as a top priority. Do you know that almost 30% of our resources are allocated to soley protecting the oil reserves. The second most percentage of allocation is 4% for moving caravans. We don’t protect our own soilders with proper equipment, yet we provide tanks, SAMs and other forms of protection for the money, I mean oil, over there. Meanwhile our friends, brothers and sisters are dying at an alarming rate FOR NOTHING. We aren’t making Iraq better. It’s more unstable then EVER!!! The US dollar smells like craps compared to a good number of other currencies in the world.
And I travel very frequently. Since when is France out of control. Where did you get that, FOX “Bush” News??? Check the stats (cencus numbers) worldwide and see how many financially-capable people are moving out of this country to safer, more stable and people-driven (as far as government motivation and policies) countries. I for one will be SUPREMELY HAPPY once Mr. Bush is gone. There is a reason he is rated THE WORST president in history.

If IRAN is so HONEST and not making something they are not supposed to than WHY do they STILL to this day DENY IEAE weapons inpsectors in?? Answer that. Just because there is no known knowledge means nothing since it is by ESTIMATES and NO proof there are no weapons plans. IRAN like every other nuclear country on the planet should allow IAEA inspectors in to inspect since they claim to have nothing to hide. I cancelec my 7 year ols lockergnome subscription. Bush hating liberals were not part of their package when I signed up. The rest of the world allows IAEA weapons inspectors in why won’t IRAN?? Answer that one LordKat. How old are you?? Dr. Dan: The way I see it, a person gets respect when he earns it, not just because he has a title or elected position. Using your logic(?), why didn’t you chastise all the other posters who referred to the leader of Iran as Ahmadinejad . Isn’t he also a president that deserves the “respectful” title of President Ahmadinejad ? MR. Bush is a clown and a buffoon and does not even come close to earning the respect you speak of. I do not condone Ahmadinejad’s actions, (don’t even like him) but when Bush starts to act like a President “of the people, by the people and for the people”, instead of a bumbling inept big business-loving, screw-the-little-man jerk, then, and only then, will he get my respect.

I received an email about 9/11 that said that the Koran section 9/11 referred to the 9/11 attack, so I bought a Koran to see if that was true. The email turned out to be a hoax (sort of).
I read several pages of the Koran and it does refer to Christians and Jews as Infidels, and even explains why. And it does say to lay in wait and ambush and kill the Infidels.
So, all of this killing in several countries around the world is justified by their Koran, not only justified but encouraged by the Koran.
It also states in the Koran that the goal of Islam is world domination, and to make everyone submit to Islam.
If you think that the Islamic Terrorists are just playing games, you are in for a big shock. They want to kill all Christians, Jews and non-believers.

@ “Technology Site not Political Blog” statements:
You can ignore this blog you know? It IS titled POLITICAL GEEKS. I believe LordKaT has the right and privilege to post this material. If you don’t like it, ignore it. It’s title is clear enough that even without seeing the blog itself. It’s clear it’s going to be political. I don’t like what LordKaT said, but I don’t own the domain, nor do I wish to do so, but the content posted herein, in a category titled POLITICAL GEEKS, with a provacative title, creates in me a 0.003ms decision to read it or not.
@Al: Democratically Elected and Iranian President in the same sentence is an oxymoron. I wish you could have come to some of these countries during their “Democratic Elections” to see what they really were. Shams. Iran is changing on its own from such non-secular origins. It will take time to internally flip its magnetic pole. In the meantime, mad men in fascist countries must not possess nuclear weapons if it is possible to stop them. It wasn’t possible to stop Kim Jong Il because of its proximity and close ties to China, South Korea, Russia, and Japan. BUT, if Kim Jong Il decides to preemptively “strike” the US or an allie, the trump cards will come out hard, heavy, and make “shock and awe” look like kindergarten nap time.

After reading LordKaT’s tirade and the large number of responses, I only have a few comments to add.
First to LordKaT if you wish to make serious political comment refrain from the use of profanity. “profanity is the last refuge of the illiterate, and ignorant.” That’s why it’s so common in RAP music. Senseless statements referring to the President’s ability to perform certain normal functions makes you sound like a third grader ranting against a classmate.
As to the invasion of Iraq, the issue of WMDs is a moot one. Thousands of dead Iranians, and Kurds attest to their existence. As to why we didn’t find them, think back to prior to our invasion. We gave Saddam months to get rid of them. They are most probably in Syria, along with the 16 Billion dollars in Gold, and foreign currency that is still missing.
Iran has publicly and repeatedly stated that it’s intention is to wipe Israel off the map. Maybe they quit trying to enrich uranium because they found a faster and easier way to acquire nuclear weapons. There are hundreds, if not thousands of nuclear weapons missing in the impoverished ex-Soviet republics. What better way to make a few million quickly.
I do not hold the Bush/Cheney administration faultless. When Cheney was the Secretary of Defense he stripped the military of the ability to support itself, then took over Halliburton and created private entities to fill those gaps. He also went to the Clinton administration to request a waiver so Halliburton could accept the contract to manage Iran’s oil industry. When Clinton refused, Halliburton set up a store front in the Carribean and went ahead anyway. Now Halliburton has moved to Dubai to avoid scrutiny of the missing millions from Iraq, and its’ dealings with Iran. Dubai, oh yeah, that’s where exPresident Clinton hangs out, and holds fund raisers for Hilary’s campaign. Small world isn’t it?
If you want something to get upset about read up on the NAFTA superhighway, and the Indiana Toll Road. We are giving foreign companies over our major infrastructure routes. The government and private industry are rapidly destroying our sovereignty as a nation.

Kudos to CP. This is one of the longest posts I’ve ever seen on this site.
Obviously, Americans feel strongly about the war the U.S. is currently in. They seem to have a lot to say and will say it anywhere they can.
Glad to see that FREEDOM OF SPEECH is still alive and well!!
Nice to see that we use any venue to vent our frustrations with our administration and government.
This is the working mans shout out and it seems that a lot of people are LISTENING.
Keep up the good work Chris and to all you folks warning you are going to pull your subscription. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to read it. The internet is supposed to be a place to freely exchange ideas and say what you want to say.
I figure if Chris objected to this he can stop it anytime he wants to and if these posts had stepped over the line, then I would expect Chris is intelligent enough to know what he wants to allow on his website and end it if he felt like it.
It is after all HIS WEBSITE now isn’t it!! I don’t believe you get to tell him what type of information is allowed and what isn’t allowed on HIS website.
Oh yeah, did I remember to mention that it’s HIS WEBSITE??

In this case, you are an ignorant liberal (read Socialist!) ostrich with your head up your … . The NIE report is based on supposition, not facts. Iran has all of its important nuclear activity under ground, out of ground/arial observation. “50,000 centrfuges required to support its uranium processing.” How can this be interpreted as “peacful” activity, even by a liberal Socialist. Your future existence may be cut hotfully short if Iran isn’t stopped. Good Luck living to a ripe old age!

As an Iranian who has no freedom of expression in his own hijacked country, I am outraged that a newsletter that is supposed to be about computers churns out highly politicized nonsense instead and becomes a propaganda tool in the hands of the unsavory savages that have hijacked my country. The idiots who write similar nonsense are so full of spite for their own country’s elected government that they are willing to play right into the hands of a messianic band of thugs. Shame on you!

as a true american citizen, i think chris has the right to voice his concern at the way the white house is heading the US. All those who bashed chris for defending iran were deafeningly silent about his comments about the bush administration lying through their teeth and joking about WMDs in iraq. btw, now that they found there are no WMDs in iraq, why not bring the troops back home. as someone in this forum said, support our troops - bring them back home!

While I may not have agreed with each point made by Chris, I applaud and share his sense of outrage. In this day of “outrage fatigue” it is increasingly rare to see anyone get riled enough to bother to rant.
To those who complain about political viewpoints on a techie site…why did you bother to click on the link to read the editorial…? Did you think it might have had something to do with Vista or Linux or something…?
To those who think we should *Support The Troops And Let Them Win*:
What does “winning” look like to you? How will we know when we have *won* and WHAT will we have won? Perhaps another photo op with Dubya (aka: Cheney’s Charlie McCarthy) standing on another battleship with some banner behind him announcing that WE WON…?
Does supporting the troops mean we indefinitely continue to set them down into an impossible and overwhelmingly hostile setting until our youth are all ground up like hamburger and America’s budget and reputation has tanked to a point where we join the rest of the third world countries?
Anyone out there a big fan of “moral values?”
“When Jesus said ‘love thine enemy’ he probably didn’t mean ‘kill them.’”

To Al,
We started it? With the Shah? I suppose the past 1400 years of Muslim invasions and wholesale ’submit or die’ ethic was our fault too? But wait a minute! If history serves me correctly , the USA has only been here for about 300 years. NO , wait a sec, it must have been those darn crusades , when western civilization defended itself against the Muslims when they invaded almost all of northern Europe.! How dare they fight back and win! That darn Bush must have gotten himself one of those time machines! He went back through time and played with history! Those paranoid hysterical Bush bashers were right!
I think then we should all surrender to the religion of peace before they kill us all. And yes I know that all muslims are not bad. But all Germans were not bad and all Japanese were not bad and all communist were not bad and …… But that didn’t make much of a difference did it?
And yes I’ve been called an Islamaphobic neonazi hate mongering troll( Such intellectual word play), on the lockergnome political geeks web site. But no one has ever been able to dispute my facts.
We can continue to bash Bush,( Who I do disagree with on a number of issues), Or we can face the truth and deal with the real terrorist out there and not the boogiemen that the USA bashing crowd seem to thrive on. I have never seen so much hate, blind people before to whats really the danger. Just look at the initial posting. Sad and shameful.
