Privacy Issues In The News

  • No Related Post

If you pay any attention to the news you’ve certainly noticed that the issue of privacy and our rights have been a hot topic lately. Are the U.S. Government and the Department of Defense spying on U.S. citizens? Some civil liberties groups believe so and are suing to find out.

The U.S. Government is even interested in the details of what some of you are searching for when you use Google or any other search engine. It seems even our private mobile phone records are up for sale to anyone willing to spend the money. Apple is addressing concerns with iTunes tracking its users in addition to applying for a patent on a two-way monitor that is reminiscent of Orwell’s 1984.

All of these issues have a direct impact on our daily lives whether we realize it or not. While most people believe they have the right to privacy, our daily habits are increasingly being put under surveillance. I’m not advocating that we all get paranoid and keep from interacting with the world. But what many people think is being done in private may not be the case anymore. Just a few things to thing about the next time you’re online, using your mobile phone or even talking around your pets, as this lady found out.

Hi. This stuff you write about is great! I love this kind of stuff. If it makes me a geek, I don’t care. It is exciting the way that you are letting people know about these kinds of things through this website. It is one way that you are in a way “fighting” back. Is it hard to be writing about these types of things without being prosecuted? The author of “The Future of Food” has been in jail for writing about the things he found out. I have always wanted to make a change, too. Some of the things I’ve learned through reading and talking to people could get me in trouble, you know? People who claim they have a cure for something, in a natural way, always get prosecuted and get their stores get raided.
