Remember the movie Minority Report, where criminals are caught and arrested before they actually commit a crime? Now it seems that science and technology may be catching up with the fiction. In this case it seems that a software program predicted that a crime would happen between a certain time in a certain location, and it was correct.

Now I realize that this may have been coincidence, but with the advances in computer modeling, I don’t believe it’s a stretch that such software will become more commonplace in law enforcement. Utilizing past history and statistics, this type of information would certainly help the police concentrate their efforts in those areas where crime is more likely to occur, while not invading the public’s privacy.
