If you like to keep up with the latest news about people, drop by NewsbyName. A self-description: up to the minute news headlines collected from multiple news channels. Incoming news is automatically scanned for “names” allowing for charting, achieving and email alerts by name, showing you who’s hot and who’s last weeks news. The site has a breaking news headline scroll (links to stories), a search by year and month, an email alert, and over to the sides are lists of Last Weeks News (included John Kerry ), Weeks Movers (Rose Bowl at the top — not US football) and Hot Names (none of which I recognize). News from “Americas” contained only US news. In any story, displayed in a center column, a person’s name is linked to a page with all the latest news this website has gathered about him or her.
One feature I found annoying was that a searched term is automatically entered into the alert signup, and apparently there was no facility for handling more than one at a time. If you like to read news with a British accent about people, then NewsbyName might be worth adding to your list of resources.
