Big Brother as a back seat driver

Seems like automobiles are always incorporating new technology to improve safety and performance. But is privacy going to be sacrificed in the name of safety?

This op-ed article in today’s USA Today cites some examples of the privacy concerns that are brought up in regards to an automotive black box. At least as they say consumers should be made aware of the fact that these devices are being installed and used. How long before GPS is added to the mix? Arguably there are some legitimate reasons for these devices but shouldn’t we, the buyer/driver have the option to opt out? Something to think about when you go to buy that new car.

What Do You Think?
