Vista Is So Unsecure!

If you have Windows Vista, you might notice your virus scanner finding more things than it did when you had XP. Vista is cool looking and I admit it is fun to play with but when you get as many trojans, viruses, or droppers as my dad’s vista notebook has, you’d welcome the idea of a downgrade. If I could I’d move him to Linux, but i don’t think that Linux is ready quite yet. Ubuntu is really good, and 8.04 is nice, but Linux isn’t ready yet - yet. I can see my dad sticking with vista, but it isn’t ready yet, i don’t thing that I have up’d him to SP1 yet, off to do that now, adios!

Windows Vista failed many security tests performed on it, but as they say with Service Pack 1, it will be more stable and secure. I have SP1, and it never runs into bugs, I am not sure how secure it is though. I just run Kaspersky Internet Security, and Windows defender to protect it. I use both firewalls as well.

Ive been using Vista x64 since it hit MSDN with no viruses or trojans. Sounds like someone is too click happy or has UAC disabled.

These things dont magically appear on your computer. They have to be installed.

@Dan, welcome to public wifi + uac doesn’t catch EVERYTHING
