Why Do I Blog?

For many years I have never taken blogging seriously. I always considered it nothing more than technology that lets me post what kind of beans that I bought at the grocery store that day. I considered blogging to be nothing more then a way to keep an online journal, but as you all know, this is not true.

Blogs can be a great tool for any type of information, which is what the internet is for. I have been on the web for over 10 years, and it still amazes me that if I have a question, I can get answers from anybody, anywhere in the world in a matter of minutes.

The way the internet is evolving amazes me as well. It doesn’t necessarily change the things that we do, but just the way we do them.

For example, picture a small town where every morning, a group of citizens gather together at a local restaurant to read the paper and catch up on the daily town gossip. Well now we seem to be doing this digitally. We wake up, go into a chatroom where we know everyone on a first name basis, and catch up on things. We talk about the same things. What the days agenda is, how the kids are doing, etc. But now we are doing this with people living 3000 miles away. Amazing.

So why do I blog? (That is the topic right?) There are many reasons. To stay informed on industry happenings, to network with other geeks, to offer advice, or to just vent a little. Its all about the information still. Whether I’m giving it, or receiving it.
