Macy’s: Employees Get Fired If They Don’t Meet Credit Card Sign Up Quota

In another example of corporate stupidity, I discovered that Macy’s fires employees if they do not meet a quota for customers signed up for their stupid credit card.
I’m not sure how Macy’s or any other organization can expect their employees to get customers to sign up for anything in this economy. Is that really a reflection on the employee? If an employee happens to not get any customers that have a need for yet another credit card in their wallet. I don’t think so. Isn’t this also supposed to be a new age of personal responsibility?
Knowing this, I don’t see how I can even shop at Macy’s anymore. This sounds almost as bad as Khol’s treats its employees. Also, the fact that I am bothered with the solicitation every time I buy something is annoying as well. Yet another reason to buy all of my stuff online.
