Setting Ego Aside For Any Job

I am watching a CNBC show right now called “Where the Jobs Are”. They are discussing a gentleman that used to make $70,000 a year that lost his job and had to settle for being a janitor. They say you have to set your ego aside for the time-being so that you can simply make money while the economy recovers. Afterwards, the hosts kind of stuck their nose up and said things like “It’s only temporary.” and made points like “It’s not going to be forever, right?” They said it in a way that to me, appeared as though they thougt this man having to be a janitor was morally disgusting in some way.

Hey, how about this? Who cares if it’s forever? It’s a job and a means to put food on the table. I’m tired of people thinking that just because a person has a certain type of job that they are a better person. How about setting the ego aside ALWAYS, even when the economy is good? There are people that may like to be a janitor. Others may like to flip burgers.

I have a friend from high school that told me she was working at McDonald’s and enjoying it. After telling me this, she immediately started defending why she chose to work there and will continue to work there. I wasn’t even judging her, but in this society that judges people based on what they do, she felt the need to.

Set your sights high, but do what you want to do. People need to stop worrying about what others may think about the job they choose. Screw the people that stick their nose up.

Job status doesn’t seem to be such a big deal here in the uk. It’s not what type of job you have that’s important. Much more important is how you spend your spare time. Do you volunteer? Do you keep fit? Are you in any clubs or have any hobbies?

How you live your life is much more important than what you do to finance it. Imho that is

So I was thinking about something this morning, it’s kind of a “we live in a perfect society, and money doesn’t really mean anything kind of thought,” but what if the Janitor made the same amount of money as the big cat at AIG. Would he still be a janitor if he could make the same amount of money doing what he loved, as opposed to what he has to do to make ends meet?

Sure there are some different demands to each and every single job on earth, but what if we said that the top guy at the company makes $50,000 a year, and the girl in the mail room makes that same money. Those who have a natural proclivity to ladder climb and lead would do so, but those who are the workers could do so as well.

In the perfect world, if we all made the same amount of money, would prices of every product be in the same kind of price range, but yet affordable to every man, instead of those who can get by?

It’s kind of like, you’re paid to live and do with your money what you will, but everyone is on the same playing field, and one job shouldn’t pay and more or less than another, which lets people do what they actually want to do with their life, instead of what they have to do.

No I wasn’t smoking any kind of drugs when I was thinking this, nor am I a “day dream believer,” but every once in a while, the cuckoo jumps out of the coco puffs and I have a coco puff perfect society thought.

mm well, a “temporary” Job I had, lasted for about 17 years. Took 2 Government tests; one for a job I WANTED, other for the job I Ended up getting. JUST Missed o the desired job, but kept myself in computers, from the job I ended up with. ANY Job, is what you make of it; and the old saw IS True, you can get a job easier, when you HAVE 1 @ the point!!

While it is true that you need a job…any job…to be able to live no matter what the economy is like…it has been an observation after working numerous jobs over the past 30 years…no matter what the job is. The jobs you love never last & those you hate will never end.
