Okkervil River: I Dare You To Not Like This Band

It’s not often that I am blown away by a singer or band. I rearely blog about music since I tend to like older stuff from the 90’s or 80’s. In trying to find things on iTunes that my girlfriend might like, I stumbled across the song Unless it Kicks by Okkervile River. It had a good beat based on the song preview, so I downloaded it. I literally couldn’t get enough of the song and the way it builds up into a very powerful ending that just blows you away. I must’ve listened 10 times that night. It’s been about 3 weeks and I’m still not sick of the song.

Since I was so entertained by this one song, I downloaded their other stuff and wasn’t disappointed. Most of their catalog is good. It’s the perfect music to sit back and chill to. It brings a calmness to me that only Bob Dylan used to be able to acheive with me. Thier latest single, Lost Coastlines can be heard for free on their web site at http://www.okkervilriver.com/. While not as good as some of their other stuff, it’s still pretty good. I recommend you give them a try if you like good music.
