Microsoft: Zune Issue Will Fix Itself Tomorrow

It looks like all of those 30GB Zune music players that crashed at midnight on 12/31/2008 will work tomorrow. Microsoft has sent out a message to it’s customers. It appears that when the date turns to 01/01/2009, the problem will rectify itself. It’s a problem related to it being a leap year and the clock driver on the 30GB models from 2006.

So much for people that may have wanted to spend New Years Eve listening to their Zune. Why can’t Microsoft come up with a fix today? I wonder if you reset the device then try to set the date back if it will work today.
