Turn An Extra Router Into a Repeater

I just moved into a big house. My wireless router is in the basement and it’s difficult for me to get an Internet signal upstairs or on my back patio. I acquired an additional from a friend since she wasn’t using it any longer and I wondered if I could use it somehow to act as a repeater for my wireless signal.

It turns out that you can, but you have to hack it with different firmware. So I attached my laptop to the second router and set it all up. You can find instructions on how to do all of this here. After performing all of these steps, I am thrilled that I have a repeater that provides me a strong signal to additional rooms in my home.
