EA Does About Face on Spore DRM

EA has decided to relax its DRM on Spore. They are offering a patch to owners of the game that will unchain the users from the strict DRM.
EA came under fire after Spore was released with oppressive DRM and was the poster child for people that oppose it. The blogoshpere has totally ripped them apart. Even the comments on Amazon have been raided by DRM opponents. they had no choice but to release a patch.
I am interested in the game, but I won’t buy a copy until I can get a copy without the DRM altogether. I just don’t trust it.
