Are We Already Too Comfortable With Gas Prices?

After playing with gas prices at $4.00 per gallon here in the United States, we are relieved to see the prices finally falling. Are we getting too relieved too soon though? I already see people considering purchasing SUV’s again since they are so cheap now. I choose not to fall for all this “Buy and American truck and support America!” crap you see on the commercials lately. Buying a cheap SUV will still cost you in the long run in gas prices.
It appears we haven’t learned our lesson. We’ll start buying big vehicles again and consuming more fuel as we get comfortable with $3.25 a gallon gas. The oil companies have officially conditioned us all to pay a higher rate for gas. Remember when $2.50 gas was considered high? Now we’re happy to have $3.50 gas.

Yep! As soon as gas dropped below $4/gal everyone, including our damn news media, breathes a sigh of relief and everyone feels happy again…it’s ridiculous.

What $3.25?
It’s $3.38 a gallon here in Memphis, TN

It’s something that happens every year, prices go up drasticly, then fall less than half what the increase was, and everyone relaxes, then they go up again. The oil companies must have some real good experts in consumer psychology who worked this out.

Exactly, I was saying the same thing to my wife yesterday….now we’re feeling “thankful” that gas is “only” $3.30. We’re being played in a big way. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for SUV/truck owners, they’re a big part of the problem

Hi! Well, we are indeed being played, but I really do not believe that most of us are contented with the gas prices. Many of us including me are considering smaller cars. Man the oil companies are really playing us because according to Consumer Reports we are not running out of oil.

Hahaha suckers, I work at home!
Joking, but seriously I do agree. Airline prices are way up so we decided to visit friends and family earlier this summer by roadtrippin’ it. Ya right! That was painful even in our honda accord.
I loath to use the word “staycation” but, its sounding a lot nicer to stay near town on days off.
SUV drivers are the real suckers. That was a choice. I actually feel sorry for longhaul truck drivers that have to pay for their own gas. SUV drivers complain that they are having to spend over$100 a gallon to fill their tanks. Try $1000 for truck drivers.
I sense a nationwide trucker strike coming soon. But that is another issue. What ever happened to carpooling?
