For years I have had disgusting toenails on my right foot. It started with my big toenail about 10 years ago, then it spread year after year to the other toenails. I went to a foot doctor and asked about treatment. He explained to me that the prescription Lamisil tablets were very expensive and insurance companies usually do not cover the expense. I even had pain because of my toenail fungus, and still my insurance wouldn’t help pay for my Lamisil tablets.

Now, 10 years later, I recently I mentioned the problem to my doctor. He told me that the generic version of Lamisil was now available. He set me up with a prescription for Terbinafine. The cost was about $100 out of my pocket, much cheaper than the non-generic version. I submitted it to my insurance though anyway to see if they will cover the cheaper price.

So if you’re like me and have been suffering from this problem for years, maybe it’s time to ask your doc.
