Is Blasting Your Car Stereo Still Cool?

Every night, a young kid pulls into my parking lot around 11:00pm blasting his stereo in his 1995 Supra with tinted windows. All you can hear is Boom… ba boom ba boom. I don’t understand how listening to music at this level can be pleasant at all, but I guess it’s a poor attempt to look cool and get attention. I was under the impression it was not cool these days to do this. I believe it was once cool back in the 90’s, but I think now people have come to realize it’s just plain stupid to cruise around with P Diddy blasting from your speakers. I’ve actually seen girls laugh at guys that cruise by like this, yet many juvenile delinquents continue to let everybody in the neighborhood know of their arrival.
Another thing I don’t understand is why some of these people draw attention to themselves with the things they are driving. OK, you can afford a low end 2002 Honda Civic with bubbles in the window tint and the rear bumper falling off. Good for you! Maybe they should spend the money they put into their sound system on putting their car together.
Is this still cool? Was it ever? Am I just too old now to understand?

I couldn’t agree more with OzTech. As a female, all I do is laugh at this sad cherade because it just proves to me these boys have little penises. It’s a living example of The Napolean Complex. “I have a small penis. Let me boom my music loudly.” So let this be known “little” boys. It is NOT cool. It’s obtrusive, inconsiderate, and a feign attempt to redeem what little you have. Find a different way to tell us you don’t have little penises. Buy a truck!
