People Unplug the Nintendo Wii After About a Month

After talking with various Nintendo Wii owners over the past few months, it has become clear that the gaming system is not the traditional type for most people. I’ve found many gamers that just don’t keep it attached to their TV’s all the time so they can jump in for a quick game here and there. They own the unit for about a month and then they just stop playing it regularly. The system is then hooked up only whenever they have guests as a solution for entertainment. You’ll often find a PS3 or XBox 360 sitting next to the Wii, tethered to the television instead.

The Wii is definitely meant for multiplayer play, and when there aren’t other people around, it’s usually shoved to the side. For gamers like me though, the Nintendo Wii is perfect. I actually like to play the CPU opponents in the Wii Sports games. I can have fun playing Super Mario Galaxy alone for hours. If I feel like multiplayer action, I can get people to challenge me online in a game like Mario Kart. A select few friends of mine also enjoy this type of gaming. These types of gamers are few and far between though. Maybe I just like to relive the characters I loved as a kid.

I thought deeper about this issue and realized there seem to be two different types of gamers. You have the ones that enjoy the XBox 360 or PS3 that play realistic games like Halo, Metal Gear, GTA4 etc. Then you have the others that like to live in a complete gaming fantasyland with games like Mario, Zelda, etc. These few people like myself will enjoy the Wii as a true video gaming console instead of just a party machine.

Give it a thought before you decide which gaming system you want to buy. Take a look at the games available for the system and make a decision on whether or not the types of games you like are offered on your system of choice, or be like half the people I know and just buy two.
