Save Money by Canceling Subscriptions

In times like these where food and gas costs more, it’s time to have a look at those credit card statements to see what can be slashed. I recently looked at mine, and I was shocked at what an idiot I’ve been when it comes to the services I subscribe to. $13 here and $10 really starts to add up. I thought I’d share my stupidity.

Monthly charges:

Tivo - $13
Sirius - $13
Gym - $19
Netflix -  $18
PeoplePC - $8

Yearly charges:

Web hosting I don’t use - $120
Consumer Reports Online -  $26

Grand total of $998 a year spent on stuff I barely use. Well, except the Tivo, which I’m hoping to do away with soon. (There’s no reason I should have to pay $13 a month just to get an updated program guide.) That’s totally unacceptable when I have so much debt to pay off.

I suggest you have a second look at the things you subscribe to. Do you use all of the services you subscribe to? Or are you just too lazy to take the time to cancel the service? I know it’s difficult. It took me an entire day to get rid of all of these services. It has to be done though, otherwise they will only pile up.
