XBox 360 vs. PS3: The Only Factor You Should Consider

I could show you a chart with all of the technical specs for the XBox 360 and the Playstation 3. I could show you a comparison of the graphics for each system. Neither of those things matter though. The only thing that matters is the games. Which system has the best games? Right now, the PS3 doesn’t really have a title that makes it a must have system. The XBox 360 does with Halo 3. This is why the XBox 360 easily outsells the PS3, and will continue to for quite some time.
History repeats itself. If you look at the history of video games, you will see that the success of a system is based solely on the games, not the hardware that runs them. The ColecoVision was better than the Atari. The NeoGeo was better than Genesis or Super Nintendo. In both cases, they didn’t have the game library to back up these powerful systems, and the weaker system outsold the superior one. People bought the NES because you could play Punch Out, Super Mario Bros. and Zelda. People bought the PS2 to play Grand Theft Auto. Today, Halo 3 is the must have game.
The XBox 360 will also continue to have developers making great games for in the future. It is a much easier system for game developers to make games for because it’s based on DirectX. The PS3? Not so easy. In fact, many games were delayed for the PS3 this past Christmas season because developers struggled to get the games completed.
I know my decision is clear. I pick the system with the games I want to play. So stop comparing XBox 360 vs. the PS3. Compare the games instead and then make your decision.

I couldn’t agree more! And it’s not as though the two consoles have a huge differences in graphics anyway, as many games made for both consoles have very simelar graphics anyway. The only time which graphics differences come into play is with PS3 exclusive games, which have incredible graphics compared to the 360. But still, what’s the point of a console? To play games…and what’s the point of getting a console without good games? Now i’m not saying that the PS3 has all bad games, i’m just saying has any PS3 game had so much hype as Gears of War or Halo 3? No. The 360 has much better and bigger exclusive titles than the PS3, and for me at least that is the most important thing when considering buying a console.

In principle, OK, but considering most of the big games are available for both (e.g., GTA IV) and the PS3 has a Blu-Ray player, it’s perhaps not as straightforward as you suggest.

What do you have to say now? With games like LBP, MGS4, Motorstorm 2, Resistance 2 and others coming (or already out) by the end of this year, and with titles like Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, God Of War 3, MAG, coming next year, we all know what console to get right?
Gears of War 2 is not enough. And Halo is dead. Bungie doesn’t belong to Microsoft anymore.

OK, first of all I bought a 360 about a month and a half ago. I bought a few games and played it and loved it. I started reading up on the rrod and how the ps3 is this amazing machine and that it is the console to have. It got to my head and I exchanged the 360 and all my games for a ps3. HUGE MISTAKE. I only played a ps2 in the last generation because I was soo partial to the controller design. I got the ps3 and went to look for some games for it, oops….they didnt have crap compared to the 360. Yes they had mgs4 and resistance, but other than that it was mostly multiplatform games. I picked up madden 09 and guitar heroIII. Got home and started playing them on the same tv I played my 360 on with the same hdmi cable hookup. Where are these amazing graphics everyone is preaching about??? Not only were the graphics not as good as the 360, but the online that is “free” is terrible. I connected to psn to play a game of madden and dear god what a crappy excuse for online play. The game had horrbile lag, the delay from the time I selected the button to the time the reaction occured was redicilous, and no it wasnt my internet connection or the opponents because i tried to play several different people. After realizing that I paid 100.00 more to get a glorified blu ray player with a average game library at best. I promply returned it and went back to a 60 gig 360, rebought my games and as soon as I fired the system up and got into madden I could tell a vast difference in the graphics. The sad thing for sony is even with the massive ps1 and ps2 following. they are still getting whipped by ms when it comes to gaming, online play, and title selection. Even with the rrod issues they are still holding their own and outselling the mighty ps3. As it stands if my system rrods Ill have it back in 5 days and will get a free month of xbl. My buddy had a launch system that he has played over 1,000 hours on rrod on him, he sent it to ms and had a brand new one 5 days later. Ms was very helpful and had him taken care of right away. Thats great customer service, I know a system shouldnt have the failure rates that we have experienced with the 360, but with each new update, the falcon chip and soon the Jasper chip the failure rate with jasper should be about 4% they are working to correct it. Worst case senario if every few months I have to take a 5 day break and get a new free console its worth it to have the ultimate GAMEING experience, cause last time I checked that is why the make gaming consoles, for games not movies or web browsing,

most people buy ps3 for a blueray player. not that it’s a bad system, but it doesnt have alot of really good games. Saw alot of ps3 exclusives bomb this year. but yeah if your gonna shell out 300 bucks on a blue ray player, cough up the extra dough and get a ps3. If your a hardcore gamer looking to play, get an xbox360 for now and pick up a ps3 later.
