Is There a Good Web Host Out There? Because Dreamhost and iPowerWeb Suck!

I’m beginning to wonder if a reliable web host exists at all. My Technipages site along with everything I had on my Dreamhost server has currently been down for over 30 hours. I have emailed them over and over and after giving me several responses that don’t help at all, they have decided to ignore me. Which I guess is pretty wise if they don’t want to deal with me. After all, they don’t have a phone number where I can call them and complain.
I moved to Dreamhost after my experience with iPowerWeb. A web host even more horrid than Dreamhost. Most email would never be responded to, and when they did answer they would solve the problem, then act like there was never a problem in the first place. I think there was a department whose job over there was just to make sure their customers feel stupid all day.
Anyway. I’ve read all the rave reviews on the net about Dreamhost. I don’t think I can trust them too much though, since most of the reviewers make money off of Dreamhost referrals. There are a lot of them out there too.
So is there a good web host out there? One where I don’t have to pay $100 a month to get actual service?

I’ve used 1and1.com for a long time and find them to be very reliable and inexpensive.

I have been using GoDaddy.com for all of my web hosting since October 2006. Their Deluxe hosting package is only $6.95 a month and with that you get 100GB storage space, 1TB bandwidth and plenty more. I have not had any problems with them at all.

I’m also really interested in what people have to say about good web hosters. I’ve had the same hoster for over 6 years now and I’m finding that they are less and less deserving of my business. It seems really hard these days to find a reliable hoster out there that isn’t going to charge an arm and a leg.
I currently pay $20/month.
I want a company that provides shared Linix or Unix hosting, multiple email accts, high bandwidth/disk storage usage limits, and mySQL 4.xx or higher with more than 1 database allowed, CGI, PHP, PERL. I’d like one that has at least an open source J2EE application server available too if possible because I want to play around with Java and JSF development.

For my money, no one beats MediaTemple.net.
They’ve had ongoing and amazing upgrades year after year and the price has never risen. Just check them out, their control panels are simply amazing, adding additional domains is a snap, and managing multiple sites is a snap via one easy web control panel.
It’s going on 5 years I’ve used them to host everything that needs hosting and I’ve never once considered switching.

For the past year and a half, I’ve used ixwebhosting.com. The prices are very reasonable. All of their plans (starting at $4.95 per month) feature unlimited bandwidth and disk storage (as long as you don’t abuse it). Also, the plan includes a free domain name registration and can host as many domains as you have. It has a host of other features as well (no pun intended). I have been totally satisfied with their service.
