The last time I posted here the country was already crowning Obama as the reincarnation of Kennedy, or is it FDR? He was being proclaimed as the savior of America. Even moderate Republicans were beginning to wax hopeful.
Since then we’ve been jolted back to reality. Obama isn’t a god, he’s not even a Kennedy Democrat.
Recently he’s reaffirmed, strengthened really, the concept that the people don’t necessarily need to know what the government’s up to. His interpretation of “transparency in government” is rather opaque. The Anti-Counterfeit Trade Agreement is terrible legislation, Obama’s sided with the recording industry in the matter of fines and he dismissed out-of-hand the idea that the country would reconsider the legalization, taxation and control of marijuana. Any fear that he was going to be too liberal have been lain to rest. It appears he isn’t really liberal much at all.
So to all of those of you who worshiped Obama without critical thought last year, what are your thoughts now? Has your god died? Or are we beginning to get a view of the wizard behind the curtain?

For those that thought that “Your Candidate” would champion your pet cause - especially the legalaziation of marajuana, guess what? You “Rick-Rolled’ yourself. Not all Democrats are or were Hippies or toked alot in High School and want to be able to get buzzed wherever they want, whenever they want.
People want to seem to go back to the 60’s with Pres. Obama, but many people fail to see that it was actually the 60’s and it’s insuing love-fest between liberalism and radicalism that borked this nation forever. The only good thing that came from the 60’s was Civil Rights legistlation…which, IMHO, should have happened way back in the 1860’s instead of the 1960’s.
In regards to the Anti-Counterfeit Trade Act; the test will be when it’s actually used, and used properly and for it’s intended purposes and not twisted by some liberal bleeding-heart politician.

I think that because of Bush’s multiple failings Obama seems like a breath of fresh air; however we all know that politicians are champion at promising things that they cannot deliver in their election campaigns. Only the very best of his ideas were told to the public, you didn’t hear him raving about abortion. I don’t think people will start to pick holes in his government until later this year, we will have to see.

This is a very good article. It’s written very well and makes excellent points. I think anyone that came along and read this would have their eyes somewhat opened and maybe it would bring a little more logic into their lives.

I believe that my father, while alive, put it best. “They’re all politicians, son. It doesn’t matter what their party affiliation is. You have to be careful when dealing with any politician, because they’ll promise more than they can deliver to get your support. Even when they know they are promising more than any politician could possibly deliver.”
