New faces in the crosshairs

Lest anyone think that because I say bad things about the Republicans I must be a Democrat, I’m actually a member of neither party. I find that our current system; with only two choices from established parties (that don’t differ as much as they’d like everyone to believe), a system that requires a person to either invest or generate huge sums of cash to buy ads and such, a system that makes it practically impossible for a third-party candidate to be taken seriously; is so completely corrupt and unfair that I couldn’t possibly belong to either party.
So now the Democrats have nearly everything they sought in this recent election. Are they going to enact decisive legislation to correct abuses in government and come up with a viable solution to the Iraq mess, or are they going to spend the next two years ignoring our current, pressing issues and only focus on getting their candidate elected in 2008? Will they do what’s best for all Americans, something they claimed the Republicans never did, or will we continue to get politics as usual?
I’ll admit surprise if we get any closer to peace and prosperity under the Democrats than we did unfer the Republicans. Neither party has a philosophy of doing what’s best for the country. Their greatest concern is doing what’s best for themselves.
The ball is now in the Democrat’s court. Will they fix the problems created by the Republicans, or will they simply continue to risk our national economy and international image in an effort to fatten their coffers?
