Mac’s USBPhone is Here

Is it because Mac is going the way of Intel or is it because more manufacturers are realizing that there is a market for Mac products that we are starting to see more Mac stuff? Either way, I’m glad to see that now there is a USB phone that fully supports all hardware functions [...]

MacBook Pro Supports FW800

When Apple showed off its new Intel based notebook at Macworld last week, many were surprised to find the lack of a Firewire 800 (1394b) port. Where was it? Since most of the Apple staff on site was seeing the MacBook Pro for the first time like everyone else, no one could be [...]

Goodbeye PowerBook, Hello MacBook Pro

It’s finally here, the new Intel PowerBooks. Well, they’re not PowerBooks anymore, they’re MacBook Pro’s. Whle nearly everyone else was saying the Mac mini would be the first new Intel release, I’ve been saying it for more then a month that the PowerBook would be the one updated. I guess this adds [...]

Will Apple Turn on the Light?

One thing I’ve never quite understood was Apple’s lack of a power light indicator on its PowerBook. When I turn on a PC notebook, I know if my button press activated the computer or not because I immediately see a green light on the laptop somewhere come on. With the PowerBook, if I’m [...]

Tablet Mac Comes to Moscone?

Hey, here’s a rumor to add to the already busy wheels of Macworld: Apple will reveal its first tablet computer. Ya, with the new Intel chips inside and with the ability to keep heat down and speed up, it would only makes sense, right? I mean I’ve been trying to figure out what [...]

Soup Up That Cheap Infiniti with a Mac mini

Infiniti’s don’t seem to hold that same “cool” factor the ultra-large Escalades hold but once someone peaks inside this M45, that might change things a bit. Sporting a Mac mini inside with a fold down LCD “big” screen, this Infiniti can take a corners at speeds far greater then that over price big ‘ol [...]

Is Apple Going To Drop FireWire Support On The Intel Laptops?

There is a rumor going on that Apple will drop FireWire support on the new Intel laptops. This rumor is based on the fact that there is no FireWire sync option within the iPod nano.
Another fact is that the FireWire Web page on Apple.com has been moved from a top location to one of the [...]

iBook Losing Its Keys

Today a friend calls to say that their daughters iBook keys are all popping off and they don’t know how to get them back on. I told them I’d be right over as I was in between calls. When I got there, I found the “P”, ” ; ” , and the ” [...]

Let Your Mac mini Be Your Cars Everything

You know, the Mac mini really is small enough that you can take it anywhere. Heck, you can even take it in your car…and let it be part of the car. That’s the idea behind the mini dock that has the tag line, “for car computing mac mini.” Hey, it’s translated from [...]

Skype has made Voice-over-IP the big rage and why shouldn’t it? It’s free! But it seems only the Windows crowd has been able to enjoy the USB handset fun, until now.

The BT400G5 Bluetooth Headset from Radtech

I’ve been playing around with Bluetooth headsets now for several years. I’ve had two of them, the last one being a Jabra 250. They worked, but the sound quality was poor and the reception was mediocre. They were not real comfortable and they only worked well with my phone, not my Mac. I think I [...]

Hacking Your iTrip

We all know that the iTrip from Griffin Technology is a great wireless FM Transmitter. But the problem is that it has a very short range before the signal starts breaking up. In most cases, moving the iPod to the backseat or even the passenger side will cause static and fading in the sound. How [...]

Linux On The iPod

I recently discovered the “iPod Linux Project,” an Open Source project committed to porting linux onto the iPod.
It works.
Imagine using your iPod and a regular old microphone to record studio-quality audio. Or sitting on a commuter train and playing Othello, Pong, Tetris, or Asteroids. All this and more is possible when you install Linux on [...]

Installing Heatsink RAM in iMac G5 Can Be A Pain

Boy, am I glad that’s over. What a freaking ordeal. You see, a few days ago I continued my Mac switch (which, up to that point, included a Mac mini and 12” PowerBook G4) with the purchase of a 20” 2.0 GHz iMac G5. The thing costs about $2,000 after taxes are said and done, [...]

The Mighty Mouse

Apple finally has released a multi-button mouse. This mouse has a small scroll wheel, and a left and right button, which I think is
really cool but for the price tag of $49.00, I think I will pass for now.
Jim Dalrymple of Macworld writes:
“Apple Computer on Tuesday introduced Mighty Mouse, the company’s next
generation USB 1.1 and [...]

PowerMac G5 Mod. - Add 3 Hard Drives

I don’t personally own a G5 yet, but I’m one of those people who loves to have as many hard drives as they can fit into their case.
If you’re like me, but have a G5, you might consider tackling this project. Just do it carefully, as that G5 is a precious work of art.
