Integrated SIM Coming To Apple iPhone?

There should be an image here!Despite the Android platform nipping at its feet, the iPhone remains a subject of much controversy and at times, media food. Today has proven to be no exception in that GigaOm reports that rumors are floating around about what is being described as no less than an integrated SIM card, for the iPhone. What does this mean? If presumptions are correct, it would indicate that Apple is looking to not only opt out of one phone type per carrier, but also its entrance into the realm of banking.

Can you imagine Apple getting into the banking arena? I’d be rather concerned considering their near overnight dominance in the mobile application field of battle. The lesser possibility is not so much about banking, rather Apple looking to explore new ways of handling micro-payments for digital goods.

And then there is the kicker. The point where Apple becomes what Google become to the search and web based advertising industry. Apple may use the SIM to become their own mobile carrier. Okay, let me explain that further. Less of a mobile carrier like AT&T and more like one of the pre-paid phone sort. It’s speculated that the little SIM allegedly included with the future iPhone, could carry this kind of potential. It’s enough to keep me up at night, to say the very least.
