Apple Needs To Fix The iPhone 4

There should be an image here!I have read the mindset for sometime now that it should be the end user, who simply avoids the problems with the iPhone 4 reception, buy simply spending money on another case. You know, because that $30 case for the previous iPhone is now junk.

I was pleasantly surprised however, to discover this article in which Consumer Reports indicates they simply cannot recommend purchasing the iPhone 4 due to Apple being unwilling or unable, to address the signal issue.

I for one, go back to the old ideal of not being an early adopter. As the iPhone has demonstrated, getting the latest and greatest early on, is not always a good thing.

Yes, they should fix the problem and it should have never gotten this far. However, I don’t have the problem, because I put mine in a case right out of the box. Why? Because I spent $300 for something I am carrying around in my pocket and that I may drop, so I will put all protection on it that I can.

The iPhone4 reception problem is a result of Apple getting a “free pass” on the reception problems that iPhones have had since the original was released. Over and over AT&T got blamed for those issues and all of the Apple apologists just keep dumping on AT&T. Never mind that in lots of places AT&T’s non-iPhone users never had the troubles that the iPhone users were having.
Personally, I’ve not had anywhere near the issues with reception with my HTC phone that my iPhone toting friends have had with their phones. Many times while sitting side by side with them. It always made me laugh when they couldn’t get a good connection and my phone worked great sitting right next to them or riding in the same car.
Seems to me that Apple has been relying on that misconception all along and is now finally getting called on it…
