Liam has a brand-new iMac, and a 42″ television sitting around. He’s wondering if he can connect the television to the iMac to increase his workspace. As far as I know, the new iMacs will indeed do this. As long as the iMac is a newer one and has the video out to video in connections on it, this will work in theory. Also, the television should be at least 1080p. If it’s not, you won’t be able to push many pixels down the pipe.

It does work, and keeps up with the resolution and color settings on each monitor separately. I am running a 24″ iMac with my old Sony 19″ monitor hooked up to it. You also have the choice of having them mirror each other or be an extended desktop, just like on a real computer.
I’ve been using two screens since my Apple+. I’m running 3 imacs with double screens, which formerly were used on my G4s which are now in semi retirement. my 1st dual screen with a vertical amber screen made by Apple. Currently my 20s and 24s imacs have 17″ mac screens as number two. Tswo screens make life INCREDIBLY easier if you write, illustrate, do websites, etc. I wouldn’t be without them.
