OS 3.1 Might Make Exchange A Problem For Some

Half of me can understand where Apple is coming from in limiting access to MS Exchange on the older models of iPhone, but despite this understanding I cannot help but feel a bit screwed.
As an owner of the slightly older iPhone 3G, I am concerned that I will be amongst those to lose out on being able to use Exchange once I decide to upgrade to OS 3.1 on my iPhone.
The issue at hand is really a matter of the iPhone finally enforcing Exchange encryption and only the 3G S being the model that supports this once the upgrade goes live with the OS 3.1. So basically come the OS update, many people will need to simply forget about enjoying Exchange access.
