Exchange Support In Snow Leopard

The long awaited Exchange support is finally working fairly well with OS X. Frankly, it is too little too late for many users as some small to medium sized businesses are already moving onto other solutions offered by competitors such as Google. Yes, it sounds insane, but the truth is that Google’s white label enterprise offerings are actually quite good and cost effective to boot.

But as the above linked article also points out, Apple itself is making some serious moves into the messaging server space and is showing no signs of letting up anytime soon. And their strategy appears to be working with WebDAV rather than coming up with something from scratch.

Regardless, I think at the end of the day we still very much belong to a Microsoft world when it comes to the Exchange server and just how embedded it really is. While I am looking forward to seeing Google and Apple breaking this up some, I think they might have a bit to go.
