Inside The Mindset Of The App Store

Trying to get ones mind around how the approval process takes place with the Apple App Store is almost overwhelming, to be honest. So many applications entries coming in each day. Trying to ensure the Apple policies are being met, that no laws are broken along the way. Almost sounds like an impossible task.
But while most of the criteria seems pretty reasonable with regard to the app store approval process, other aspects seem a bit vague. “Anything that degrades the core experience of the iPhone.” Seriously, this is entirely too open ended to be a serious consideration. Who defines this? And what happens when a better app that the existing one provided by Apple is rejected? How about AT&T with select VoIP applications?
I am of the mind that there are just entirely too many gray areas here with how Apple does this approval process. And while I do not expect the process to be 100% all of the time, it would be great if the company was able to find a way to not be so vague in their approvals. But that is just my take.
