VoIP For The New iPod Touch?

There should be an image here!Imagine having full on VoIP access not on your iPhone, but with your iPod Touch. Interesting, no? As it is really dumb in my book to bother with Skype on a device that already has a means of placing cheap phone calls without the app, Skype on an iPod Touch actually makes more sense to me personally.

I see being able to call on Skype as a really good thing, despite having to wait around for the nearest Wifi access point to make itself available. Clearly, this would be very helpful for those people out there who might not think to bother with a cell phone - like for overseas travelers perhaps?

As for the other VoIP solutions that will likely be available as well, I think there is plenty of room to share. The key will come down to functionality and comfort with what the end user is needing. But that is just my take.

[...] Would you like to have full-on VoIP on your iPod Touch? [...]

I love using Skype on my iPhone and on a previous iPod touch that I owned. When we go to our cabin in NC we have no cell service, but we do have wifi, so I can still place calls on my iPhone or iPod Touch (with iPhone/mic headset).

I can’t afford an iPhone.

The iPod Touch is looking like a very good alternative.

It would be nice to have some sort of VOIP or wi-fi phone capability.

It really doesn’t have the same voice input hardware now does it? Wouldn’t you have to pop some sort of obscene dongle out the thirty pin port to get sound into the iPod Touch? Or does it do the trick with earbuds with a mic?
