Does Google Android Scale Better Than The iPhone?

Despite the the iPhone’s tremendous success, it is worth noting that in many ways the Google Android platform could scale better in the long term. This is not to say that it will matter, even with a trillion different varieties of mobile units to choose from.
Because if history has taught us anything, each platform appeals to completely different types of user. Speaking for myself, Android will not matter in any real sense until it has a desktop in which it can be bonded with. Much like we have seen with iTunes and the iPhone, Android lacks that single killer desktop application.
Perhaps this will change however, once the Chrome OS is released by Google. Even if it is not needed, it needs to be in a position to deliver Amazon music/video content with the utmost of ease.
