Firefox Better Than Before?

Even with the latest release of Firefox out for OS X users, Safari and Chrome are still very much something that remains on the radar. And obviously for OS X users, Safari is never far from anyone’s mind when it comes to a strong browser right out of the gate.
As for what is making Firefox 3.5 such a hit, that is difficult to explain. On my Linux box, it’s performance is vastly improved. And on the Mac, I have also noted some improvement there as well. Firefox does seem to run a bit smoother. Enough to where I am not reaching for alternatives as often, anyway.
As to whether the new found competition with Chrome is going to eventually be an issue, I would remind everyone it is too early to know yet. Ask me again in a year or so, then I should have a better idea on this one I suspect. Because thus far, Chrome is not a threat to anyone.

I love Firefox 3.5 and is the best browser I’ve seen in a long time. I hated Firefox 3.0 and thought was one of the worst web browser in the world, but I had to use it anyway, as a substitute browser to Safari. Now I feel there is a battle between the two.

I think its really great… its faster, they also included a “new tab” button I have been waiting for. I think safari 4 is faster then all and is very great. But since I’m a web designer and have about 5 browsers installed I have Firefox set as my default, but I still use safari for plain browsing and searching.

Safari 4 is still everything I could want in a browser, and after a quick test of Firefox 3.5 I’d still say Safari was faster…though that is a subjective perception.

3.5 is a great improvement but safari 4.0 is still the fastest for me. You can benchmark your browsers at peacekeeper.com

Nope, it’s worse. It takes 2-3 minutes to load on a freshly booted XP machine. 3.0.11 *only* took 20-30 seconds to load. I uninstalled 3.5 on my laptop and desktop and went back to 3.0.11

It amazingly fast on Linux this is the first time Firefox get optimized for Linux right out of the box and it show. I benchmark my Firefox on my Linux AMD 64 rig against Safari on a Mac Pro pro any day!

I reinstalled 3.0.11 because some of my addons were incompatible with 3.5, namely tabmixplus (which I am in love with.) Besides, 3.0.11 is EXTREMELY fast now that I found out about Fasterfox lite. I’m using windows XP and it id MUCH faster that Safari four. I also like the customization options on firefox, but safari’s new windows interface doesn’t cut it for me.
