iPhone 3GS Is Faster While The iPhone 3G OS Upgrade Sucks

As you lucky iPhone 3GS owners are discovering, you are in possession of one sweet handset. And by the way, the speed being offered is actually faster than even Apple is laying claim to. Lucky you!
Sadly for those of us who are still slumming it with the older 3G model, it appears that things are not nearly as rosy. The early reports clearly indicate that upgrading your older 3G model is a mistake and will create issues with some bugs. Based on what I have been reading, it looks like it will be best to wait for a time.
What makes this so frustrating is that this feels like the new upgraded OS was designed for the new phone only. Meaning while new users are enjoying great stabilities, the battery and performance for existing 3G users goes straight down the tubes. And that is just sad.

I haven’t seen these update problems on my iPhone 3G. Perhaps it’s affecting users who unlocked or jailbroke their 3G phones, and then went for Apple’s OS upgrade?

My iPhone 3G seems a bit faster and definitely more stable since upgrading to the new version of the OS. I don’t have 10,000 useless apps on my phone, just a suite of different network monitoring and management apps. I dunno, maybe that’s got something to do with it.
Ultimately I would have expected the upgrade to be slower, particularly on the pre-3g model.
