Taking Qik Legit

There should be an image here! For many people, using the iPhone application known simply as Qik is something that has changed the way they share their day with the world. And for those who are willing to Jailbreak their iPhone, it is certainly one option to be sure. But not everybody is willing to go this route. And with concerns over updating one’s iPhone later on, legitimate concerns or not, who can blame thme for being skittish.

This brings us to this article in which it seems that Qik has the potential to become a legitimate iPhone app in the app store for the upcoming iPhone 3G S. The logic seems sound enough, the phone supports streaming video and all. So I guess the only question is whether or not Apple will indeed, follow through in allowing the dynamite app passage into the iPhone’s app store?

Then again, this might be the wrong group to be asking. Perhaps it is AT&T and their ever troubled 3G network that will allow or reject passage of this application. While I have no proof myself, I feel pretty confident that when it comes to bandwidth heavy apps on the iPhone, AT&T has the final word. After all, it is streaming over their network, not Apple’s. Guess one possible compromise would to be to allow Wifi access to Qik. It’s better than nothing.

Um…been using QIK on ATT with a lowly HTC phone without issue for some time now. Never had an issue with the 3G network here in SoCal either.
