Adobe Slow Going With Flash For The iPhone
Adobe needs to get their products onto smart phones asap. To be honest, they are quite late to the game and the company has a lot of catching up to do should they wish to get Flash ready for prime time.
What is promising is that Adobe has a time table in place for this year as to when they will be releasing a trial version of Flash for Palm, Google and Nokia based phones. Yet at the same time, it seems that RIM and Apple are left swinging in the wind.
Seriously, Adobe is putting more effort into the Pre than the iPhone…and the iPhone has been out in the consumer hands for how long now? So forget the Blackberry already, fine, we can live with this. But putting the iPhone on the back burner is not helping anyone I am afraid.

Apple won’t allow flash (or java), not the other way around as they don’t want apps from outside the Apps store. Flash or java could hook up to sites outside of Apple’s control.

Adobe WANTS flash on the iPhone. Apple won’t allow it. As much as I love apple. Go blame them.

It’s not Adobe, Apple doesn’t want it there.

Bill has a point…if they allowed flash…then adobe air could work and apps could be added using that without even involving the app store…probably a reason why it hasn’t happened yet. But if it is a decision of Adobe then good on them…because if they are giving the Pre more attention it gives it a fighting chance of being a top competitor. The iPhone has enough advantage as it is…

This is true, apple is to blame . They have had negotiations with adoble in the past about adoble software on the iPhone. And yet again and again apple stays stuborn to the max. This is the only leak that could lead to the downfall of apples iPhone.

As others have said, the problem is Apple and not Adobe. Apple doesn’t want to relinquish the control that the App Store gives them to allow and disallow what appears on the device (sometimes seemingly arbitrarily).
I wouldn’t be surprised if Adobe has a fully functional iPhone version of Flash/Air and is just waiting for legal permission. My personal opinion is that if this is true, they should announce it and show a video demo of it working and let the public put some pressure on Apple.
It is ridiculous that one of the major parts of the internet is unavailable on the iPhone. I’ll probably switch to android.

The blocker here is Apple, and their fear that flash on the iPhone will mean reduced revenue through the app store. Adobe would love Flash on the iPhone!!

Howdy, there are already a billion Flash-enabled phones. Apple’s late arrival proved popular among influentials in the US…. ;-)
Adobe’s goal is to make it easy for you to publish to any screen. The next version of Adobe Flash Player will run on both desktop and smartphones — we’re moving past “Lite” versions for mobile. Apple’s iPhone is one of the (many) platforms Adobe is optimizing for, but I have no idea if such an engine will be permitted for distribution.
