Should Apple Be Going To The Opera?

Is Apple losing ground to the Opera browser with regard to user share? This article is indicating that it is. Yet despite this report, I am left questioning the value of Opera if it is? Meaning, even if the iPhone web browser is falling behind Opera, is there really any grander meaning that makes this information a total mind blowing situation? Not too likely.

No, I think it is just numbers and while it is great that Opera is seeing this kind of success, I find it unlikely that anyone is going to get too excited about what Opera is doing on the mobile front. The iPhone Safari offering on the other hand, has largely redefined what it means to surf the mobile web.

Opera, in their own right, has done this as well on other mobile platforms. But I am not using it because the experience is already provided to me on the iPhone. Opera on the other hand, is not.
