App Store Rejecting PhoneGap Apps

Until today, I must confess that I had never heard of PhoneGap, possibly being due to the fact that I am not a developer. Despite this issue, I was shocked to hear that apps built with the PhoneGap development platform are apparently, being rejected by the iPhone App Store?
This is not to say that everyone is having this experience, but it does seem like Apple is feeling a bit threatened by anything that they are not in control over. And because PhoneGap is indeed something that is cross platform, this is certainly not something that Apple is really intent about.
For my money, I think it comes down to the Palm Pre and apps showing up in the App store might also end up doing well for the Pre as well. Most might say that the Pre is no threat the app store for Apple. But from what I am seeing, it very well might make a bigger impression out there than we found with the Android G1. Let’s not forget, there was a time when Palm was king of the handheld jungle. So anything is possible.
