Sony Finally Opens Up

Sony is sniffing glue again apparently, as they once again visit the land of “too little, too late”. It seems that in a sudden vision of the obvious, they are seeing the errors of their ways with DRM and in turn, ridiculous amounts of control over their provided content.
The best example of their “change of heart” comes from them pointing to the use of DRM based on open standards used on their PS3 network. So clearly, as they are claiming here, had they been more on top of things, they could have out done the iPod/iTunes combo had they just been more “open”.
One only need to remember that this is the same company that fought against MP3s with all they had in hopes that the CD music world would continue to thrive. Today, they are embracing DRM with the word “open” in it which leads Sony to believe that they are making progress. All I can say is whatever the execs at Sony are drinking, must rhyme with “fool-aid”.
