Time For The World’s First Botnet?

Oh boy, it looks like we might be seeing OS X getting ready to hit the next big security threat. Are you ready for this one? Botnets. Yes, there have been increasing reports of what is described as OS X’s first botnet!
Yes, according to what I am seeing that article, we are seeing those who choose to pirate software ending up becoming a host to some pretty nasty stuff. Not just in the Windows world, but also in the OS X world as well.
So is the above the first Mac botnet then? Not so much, according to this article, the story goes that some researchers actually traced what is believed to be a botnet back to a Mac that was affected with malware. Apparently, modified iWork software gone wrong. The botnet that created via this pirated iWork software, had apparently been set to attack a single website for whatever reason. Now here is the really interesting point. This is NOT the first Mac botnet. There was one reported back in 2006, according to the above linked article.
