Updates For Those OS X Insecurities?

As many of you may already be aware, the 10.5.7 update of OS X for the Mac is just around the corner. Some saying this release is overdue, as some of the bugs being fixed are rather annoying ones. Bugs such as performance issues with Ethernet on Mac Pro systems along with the way login preferences are handled. Small potatoes to some, rather frustrating hassles to others.

For me, this raises the question - is Apple addressing this stuff at a pace that most Mac users are alright with? My wife, a full time Mac user seems perfectly happy with Apple’s performance in the bug release dept while other friends of mine, have a different view. They are of the mind that Apple should have been more on top of these issues from the get go.

For me personally, I take am more agnostic approach as I feel that this merely serves a reminder that no OS is going to be bug free, all of the time. While we tend have more patience with security issues, it is interesting how short our fuses get when the bug is a matter performance of a screwed up feature. Guess one is seem as more limited than the other? Interesting…

cool new os update

I completely agree with your statement that no OS is bug free. Also, I have never been disappointed with Apple’s update timing. I would rather have Apple take a while to fix a bug permanently than fix it quickly but not completely.

I wonder if they’ll ever fix the issue of when I start up Speakable items, it always gets added to my startup items in system preferences automatically and I always have to go back in when I restart and turn it off. Really annoying and has been there for a long time.
