Google Taking A Bite Out Of Apple App Development

An interesting twist for Apple and the success had with their App store here recently. It seems that Google, the mighty search provider, has come up with a way to put more power behind web applications. So much power in fact, that to the unknowing, the created applications feel almost native in usability.

Where this could potentially become a problem for Apple, is that this may potentially take away some of the control Apple prefers to have over its endeavors. In short, Google might very well end up leading the way for mobile development in the future instead of Apple. Something that I doubt Apple’s leadership would be too thrilled about.

Speaking exclusively for myself here, I think that a split might not be such a bad thing. While I hardly wish to see Google become our new mobile masters, I am not really ready to hand over the keys to Apple either. Instead, I would like to see a number of ways for getting applications developed and to the user. But that is just my own spin on this topic.

Wasn’t that Apples original play, web apps for the iPhone? I’m not clear on why this is a game changer, other than Google’s created an excellent mobile web app.

This doesn’t affect Apple AT ALL. This is exactly what Steve Jobs wanted in the first place!

Need I remind you that installed Applications came second in the iPhone’s lifetime.

It’s a good thing that applications were made to exist, and the improvements in 3.0 look to be significantly awesome, but this isn’t bad for Apple. If anything, it further enhances the power of the iPhone.

What other smart phone implements HTML5? I’m guessing the Android, the Pre might, but honestly, what else?
