A Month Old And Chrome Is Still Not Available

Windows users have had a full month to enjoy Chrome now while those using OS X and Linux, have largely been left out in the cold. Despite the best efforts of projects like Chromium, which lend OS X users an opportunity to try out Chrome even before it is released. Sadly, using this software hardly qualifies as a full time browser. In short, it is a nice toy, but not something to put a lot of full time faith in or to be used on a full time basis.

But alas, there is another side to this. While Chrome has made quite the splash, I have not really evidence of it actually ever replacing Firefox. Why? Lack of add-ons and also, a lack of reason to switch in the first place.

While it is true that some consider Chrome to be faster than Firefox, it is hardly going to be a threat to the Mozilla alternative until Chrome is actually released on all of the platforms. Maybe then, we’ll have something to talk about with regard to real competition.
