Picasa For OS X?

I stumbled on a really cool application created by Google called Picasa. I worked with this tool on Windows and really liked it. To be honest, I thought it was better than iPhoto, and I was a bit disappointed because (I thought) there wasn’t an OS X version available. Now I’ve discovered The Official Google Mac Blog, which covered some of the projects Google worked on aimed at Mac users, including Picasa for OS X!
I gave it a try. Sadly, it lacks a lot of cool features I was used to in the Windows version. But it has the ability to upload your pictures to the Picasa Web albums, and this feature works like a charm. Besides that, it is very neatly integrated with iPhoto. I chose the good ol’ drag and drop option and, within a minute, my photos were uploaded.
The only thing I would suggest to Google is to please upgrade the 250mb disk space! I’m running low!
You really should try this tool; I think it rocks! You can download the Mac version here.

Picasasa wasn’t created by Google. They bought them a few years ago. My perspective was, at the time that Picasa was a nice app but iPhoto was much more robust. When google purchased them I realized that Google was now becoming the harvester of good Mac applications for the Web/PC world. MS is no longer agile enough to do this, but Google is making a good run….iPhoto = Picasa; iCal = gCal; Mail = Google Mail….
