iPod Gets The Shonky Award From Down Under

  • No Related Post

You know, those guys Down Under are a little different than us. Their toilets flush the water down in the opposite direction than ours up here in the States and they drive on the wrong side of the road. Most of the population is on the East Coast and pretty much cattle is the only life in Central Australia. Add that hot sun and the anxiety of shark attacks at their beaches and it’s not hard to understand why smh awarded the iPod a Shonky.

We’ll let you figure out just what shonky means if you’re not hip on Aussie slang, but we can tell you others that won awards alongside Apple’s pride and joy include Life Miracle’s Magnetic Laundry System, iRobot Roomba robot vacuum cleaner, and Black And Gold Meat Pie to name a few. Don’t ask us what the last one is; again, this is Down Under. Remember?

In short, the folks at smh feel the iPod, to use a proper English slang term, sucks. Whine, whine, and whine they do about cracked screens, batteries, and audio issues. Sure, we’d love to take the time to tell smh not to put your iPod in your back pocket and then expect everything to be fine after sitting down on a park bench. Or that the sound is much richer and vibrant when you place both ear buds in your ears. But hey, we’re too busy for that. Maybe it’ll figure out, maybe it won’t. Either way, just take all this in with a grain of salt as this is the country that sent us Foster’s and told us it was Australian for beer.

Thanks, Rick, for the tip. Hope we didn’t hurt your feelings, mate!

I live in Australia and your ‘facts’ about Australia could be no more stereotypical if you tried. Tell me, have you ever been to Australia? Probably not because you waste all your money buying laptops and iPods and other stuff off apple.

So Jason, you guys are now driving on the right side of the road? You all moved from the East Coast and spread out the country? Shark attacks are not common at all? Okay, I apologize for the stereotype, then, but last I checked with my cousin whom lives Down Under, these facts came from him. Maybe he hasn’t been out lately.
