LogMeIn Works on Mac Intels with Java Update

Glory of glories, LogMeIn now works on the MacBook Pro (and most likely other Intel-based Macs, though not tested by us)! With the latest version of Java, Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Release 4 (download), you can now finally log into Windows machines remotely via your Firefox web browser. In fact, it works on the latest versions of Safari and Camino, too. It unfortunately does not work on the latest beta of Flock. All three working browsers ask you to okay the certificate with every log in and only Safari shows the Java animation before connection to the remote host is completed.
Once logged in, the Windows host is quite responsive. I found no more lag of mouse-to-screen movement or refresh rate than I have seen in the Windows version of Firefox. The Java version, is a bit slower than the ActiveX version used in Internet Explorer, however. SvenOnTech also noticed that Camino seemed to load the My Computers page and the actual hosts desktop faster than either its brethren Firefox or Safari.
It appears Apple have finally fixed the most annoying Java bug on the Intel platform and you can now finally remotely control Windows hosts natively within OS X on an Intel box!

yep, works great with Firefox 2.0 on a MacBookPro. I have a newer version of Java on my MacBook, but it works just the same. Just make sure that in your Firefox preferences you have Java enabled.

LogMeIn just released a preview of their Mac client. You can now remote control your Mac from any machine (including PCs).

Carl, you’re trying to install the Windows MSI. The Mac version is available here: https://secure.logmein.com/products/mac/

Appears that LogMeIn is broken on Mac at this time….
Being as my office system is running XP, where I use LogMeIn 8+hours a day, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve attempted to use LogMeIn from either of my Macs (Mini and MacBook). Just yesterday I attempted to use LogMeIn on my MacBook, only to find the remote connection step not only fails but crashes firefox. Attempted the same on my Mac Mini, same result.
Verified OS is up to date, Java, and FireFox (2.0.0.5). Reinstalled latest Mac Plugin (for viewing remote PCs).
No luck. Emailed LogMeIn support… no help there.
Hmmm… good thing I still have one of my systems running XP.
