Microsoft Would Gladly Support Macs, But Apple Won’t Do It

Everyone’s been asking and John C. Dvork as even said it straight out, “Apple will run Windows,” soon. Well it looks like Microsoft is listening and is even eager to welcome Apple to its fold of OEM’s releasing the statement:
‘Just like all Microsoft’s OEM’s, Apple can build industry-standard hardware that’s compatible with Windows; Microsoft has an open specification and a process for certifying the hardware,’ said a Microsoft spokesman. ‘Microsoft would support Apple the same way it supports every other PC manufacturer.’
So, looks like the computer world is ready for Apple to throw OS X out the window for Microsoft’s operating system at a blink of an eye. But what would a world of Windows on Apple be like? Well first, it won’t happen, if at all, for a while since SvenOnTech has already reported that Microsoft won’t support EFI in Vista, a key hardware function that all Macintel hardware already supports.
If it did happen, what would this mean for Apple itself? Would it become more a hardware company with it’s iPod and its line of accessories and then the Mac line and that’s it? Would iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, and such die, too? Or would they find new life in Windows…at a higher price with more profitability behind it?
Mmmm, what ever the rumors and crazy thoughts may be, we just can’t see Steve Jobs losing it all and going Windows. Once more developers start porting their applications to OS X, SvenOnTech just sees OS X getting even more popular and less reason for Microsoft to get giddy about another OEM. In fact, once the world sees just how more stable OS X is and they can run the same programs on their Mac as they can on Windows, Microsoft may start getting worried due to slumping sales! It’s all part of the brilliant reason that Apple went Intel, folks! It wasn’t to save a buck and then go sale the farm off, too.
Microsoft’s statement was just that of being smug. It used the opportunity to make it look like that it was the “bigger man” in the fight when truth is Steve Ballmer is probably throwing furniture around his office because Vista won’t support EFI and the Mac does!
