Will Apple Turn on the Light?
One thing I’ve never quite understood was Apple’s lack of a power light indicator on its PowerBook. When I turn on a PC notebook, I know if my button press activated the computer or not because I immediately see a green light on the laptop somewhere come on. With the PowerBook, if I’m lucky, I will hear the startup sound. But when on a plane, as I am now writing this, I can’t hear it for the life of me. Holding in the button does not good either because that will actually cycle the unit on and off. Ugh. Why is there no power light?
Will the Intel based laptop line from Apple be where things change? Will there power lights? Will there be gaudy stickers all over my palm rest? I don’t know about the latter but I sure hope the former is true. I’ve been waiting to get a new laptop (and I’ve been looking at HP’s line of multimedia units) but will wait it out a few more months in hopes the PowerBook gets an Intel chip next Tuesday.
I love my PowerBook (dislike my Dell) and look forward to getting a new PowerBook…with a light.
